Been updating the toolkit and my settings.

Why is the resolution I see in the "override resolution" section so much higher than the native headset resolution? I am seeing something like 3240 x 2980 ( or similar, I changed it so cant remember exactly!) while the G2 default resolution is 2160 x 2160.

Second question, what should it be set at for my G2? I cant get it to go to 2160 x 2160, if you set the first side at 2160, the second side goes to 2105...why?

In relation to the above question, what should I set the percentage at in open XR tools?

I have tried setting as near 2160 x 2160 as I can get ( which is 2160 x 2105) and adjusting the resolution percentage in Open XR tools, but at 150%, it seems not as crisp as it was when I had it set at 80% in tools and something around 3240 x 2980 in the performance toolkit overide setting.......

Whats peoples take on this?

@markturner1960for the same reason you see  that in Steam VR, the headset is designed to be operated with over sampling to adjust for "barrel distortion" (whatever the hell that is), the physical resolution is 2160 x 2160 but my guess is that the distortion is not "equal" in all directions , when i down sample i do so to still be above the physical resolution in all dimensions, but as you noticed this will impact clarity.

my own observation is this if you are going to change from the default do so in one place only,  e.g. don't do NIS and toolkit and override...  as it will be come increasingly complex to work out what the heck is going on...

OK, thanks, so where I am now, which looks great and runs 60FPS pretty well, is 80% in open XR, 3120 x 2985 in the overide. I am also using CAS at 100%.

What do other G2 users have?

What resolution do you have in OpenXR?
With my G2 it says something like 2560x2560...
No matter what I set. 100% or 200% it is always the same resolution displayed

G2 at 90Hz oxr4wmr custom render scale unchecked - prefer framerate over latency checked -

Oxrtk - override res. set to 2800-2800 wide as edmuss would say - CAS 30% - Frames locked to 55fps.  Nvidia Driver 531.79

G2 at 60hz I use the same settings as SoH mentioned above.

Special Thanks to edmuss !

Why 55 and not 90 / 2 = 45?

Is this driver version any better than the other versions?

I’m finding at the moment that locked 55 fps is working great for me now if I go to a server like Egnimas I’ll lock to 45fps. Also I’m not using MR. Both setting work really well for me and my rig. The new 531.79 driver I’m finding is more stable less micro stutters then the last 2-3 drivers. The 531.29 is always my fall back driver.

Specifically with the G2, when running 90Hz with FPS below refresh rate, locking to 55fps seems to give a fractionally smoother image.  It's not significant but noticeable.
May not translate to other headsets though 🙂
