TBH, I never tested it, but I think it would be set by George, unless you jump to the front before startup is completed. 1
Floyd1212 Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 Yeah, if you switch to the CPG seat while you are still getting things up and running in the back, you will have to boresight the CPG IHADSS. But if you wait long enough (or maybe if you pull up the George interface before switching to the front seat?), it will already have been boresighted. 1
Mr_Burns Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 Can I ask, it takes me ages to line up, using trackir have to tilt my head, roll it then hold my dead still to mouse click the MFD button which creates enough movement to lose the boresight! I I concentrate so hard I hold my breath! Any tips? 1
Floyd1212 Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 Do you have a thumbstick type controller mapped to the TSD cursor? After clicking BORESIGHT, then IHADSS, the cursor moves to correct place on the left edge of the TSD to where just pressing the “cursor enter” function is all that is needed. Slightly easier than using the mouse to click it. You could also map that cursor enter function to a keyboard button. You could also save a Snap View while you have correct alignment, then recall the snap view to align in the future. 2
giullep Posted May 13, 2023 Author Posted May 13, 2023 You could also save a Snap View while you have correct alignment, then recall the snap view to align in the future. Could you explain to me how can save a snap view and recall it? thx
Mr_Burns Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 Thanks for the tips, I didnt realise the cursor trick. I suppose more for my own interest, I get that aligning is important and difficult, but is it a trackir thing that makes lining up the concentric circles so time consuming, I dont mind, as long as its not me doing something wrong!
Floyd1212 Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 To save and recall the Snap View: Press and release LWIN+Num9 to make Snap View 9 the active view to edit. (You can use any of the slots 1-9 available.) Go through the process to boresight the IHADDS, and when you have everything perfectly lined up, press RALT+Num0 to save that view into the slot. You will need to have the MFD button for B/S NOW visible on the screen when you save your view as you will need to click that with your mouse in the future. See my screenshot below. To recall the view the next time you need to boresight, press and hold LWIN+Num9 (or whatever slot you saved it in) and then click the B/S NOW button with your mouse. Then release LWIN+Num9. Done. Note: Because LWIN and the number pad are quite far apart on your keyboard, and you also need to click something with the mouse at the same time, I would recommend mapping a button on your HOTAS, or a different keyboard shortcut, that you can press with your left hand while manipulating the mouse with your right hand. For example, I have a hat on my HOTAS dedicated to snap views where Left is a view of the left-side console Right is a view of the right-side console Down is a view zoomed in on the 2 MFDs and keyboard unit Up is the boresight view This works nicely with TrackIR because as long as you are holding the Snap View active, your camera does not drift around while you manipulate buttons in the cockpit with the mouse. 3 2

jww123 Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 Question- I was having trouble boresighting. I finally was able to get it with the aid of the cockpit camera view controls. But I wonder- How does the accuracy compare if you do a boresighting from a cold start vs the accuracy if you start from a runway with the apache already started ( and presumably) it having been boresighted already?
UncleStains Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 From what I can tell, hot start aircraft have a perfect boresight. I fly in VR with the IHADSS on both eyes so boresighting is extra challenging, like one of those magic eye posters. This is one realism feature I wouldn't a checkbox to skip.

Do you get the option to select which eye it renders over? I've always been curious how that works in VR, since in real life, you've only got the one eye seeing the sight. It seems like it would be cool to be able to have that realistically done, but I have no idea how well that would render for your brain in VR.
UncleStains Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 You can have the IHADSS on left, right, or both eyes. I go with both because it's easier to read the corners. The trick to boresighting while doing this is to lean way back.
