Hi all,

I'm finishing off a large CAS sortie mission. Its a dawn attack, taking off from a FARP.

One problem i have is.. the FARP wont turn on its lights. And its damn dark, not night but dark enough to make rearming very interesting. (if you rearm early you have to land on a pitch black pad and its very hairy!) I find the landing spot light of limited use.

I have, i believe, all the required assets on the FARP. On approach i tell the FARP, they respond, i request permission to land, they respond, but no lights are ever turned on.

I cant find any guidance in the manual or topics on this in the forums.

Any ideas. :helpsmilie:

I'm sure the FARP has lights.. is the game wrongly assuming it is light enough?

I'm not sure about FARP lights. Do the vehicles have lights at night? If they do, you could have two vehicles parked converging their headlights on the LZ in a V shape, that is how it is sometimes done in the military.

Probably not much help, but...

None of the vehicles have lights.. not even the moving cars have their lights on. The buildings have lights on.. but the vehicles don't.. so i cant use that work around.

I've just noticed their are commands/keys to move the spot light around.. :) hmmm didn't know it could do that...cool. Maybe that's what i'll need to use.

The FARP is in the shadow of some trees... they really should get chopped down :D

I had same problem too. When I near in the FARP (within 300m). I press comm menu. Than press [F6] Tower..., [F5] Inbound... When I give a permission to land, the FARP lights automaticaly goes on. But in my observation sometimes (dawn or late afternoon) it doesn't work. It should be work only between a night hours/timeframe??

Manual page 355:

Inbound

You ask the tower for information about landing at the airfield. The tower replies with heading (in degrees), distance, QFE (air pressure at airfield elevation) and recommends the pilot to assume the pattern altitude. This altitude is usually specific for each airfield; DIGITAL COMBAT SIMULATOR Ka-50 BLACK SHARK 8–17

however it can be assumed to be 300 m by default. FARPs will illuminate the their landing pad at night after this message is sent.

MadTommy,

Don't know if you;re interested but Sortie and mission are basically the same word. I dont think they are normally used together. It comes from the French meaning to go out for a special purpose. Mission comes from Latin and means to be sent out for a specific purpose.
