Nice take off 

It's been just over 20 years since I last visited the RIAT. Good to see that, after all these turbulent years, at least the weather in Britain hasn't changed! 

 

I visited a couple of times around the millennium. We always did the 3 arrival days and usually did some spotting at Brize, Mildenhall (legendary Willows campsite ) and Lakenheath afterwards)

Around 1992 was my visit to RIAT. Memories are a low B-52 flypast and begging for teabags from fellow campers, when I'd forgotten to bring any.

Many hours spent at Mildenhall, (Willows)  Lakenheath, and Marham my local airfields, and Holbeach bomb range watching A-10 and F-15E pop up bombing and staffing targets..

Yesterday at RIAT 2023 I climbed up to the cockpit of a real F-15 Strike Eagle. Delighted to say they replicated it perfectly from the one Razbam have created for us. Pilots getting younger too.

I asked the pilot the radar's range. She smiled and replied: 'Far enough.'

That Harrier nearly lost its starboard wing wheel assembly there.

And have heard that a crabbing B-52 took out most of the runway edge lighting!
