Hi all, I just bought my reverb g2 and I was trying to set it for DCS.

I don’t understand why but I get way better performance with steamVR (40ish fps) rather then with openXR (not more than 20).

also with openXR motion reprojection doesn’t seem to work, I tried both with the openXR mixed reality app and with the toolkit but nothing, I get stuck at 20fps (CPU bound: main thread).

what am I doing wrong?

OpenXR is no magic app! With exploiting it's options you basically make the image worse on areas which are not so much effected by your eyes. So now the question is, if this bothers you or not? It did bother me, so I had to turn more or less all those options down, and there was practically no advantage compared to steamVR. Thats the truth.

I still use OpenXR, since it is now natively supported by DCS, but it's just there, I don't use any of it's options any longer. Specially now when I went to Quest Pro.

Probably something to do with resolution or a million other things

But your question equivalent to going to a car forum and saying my car is not making power. What is wrong with it?

The point is that with the same default settings steamvr has double the fps of openxr. And motion reprojection in openxr doesn’t seem to work even if it’s selected on. But I think I’m giving up on vr anyways…

So quickly?

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

VR does take quite a lot of time to setup and use. DCS currently uses open XR. Steam VR is a runtime and not an API (Application Programming Interface) and can use open XR. The issue you might be facing is trying to use multiple runtimes. For example, when I first started with VR with a rift s, the game defaulted to steam VR but I also had Oculus running too. I used to use open composite to bypass steam VR and this would run much better. I would advise checking out this setup guide if you have not already done so. https://www.gamersbynight.com/dcs-settings-vr/

Sorry if you have already done all these things but it would be sad to give up on VR without at least trying them.

9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64Gb RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4). Afghanistan – Channel – Cold War Germany - Kola - Normandy 2 – Persian Gulf - Sinai - Syria - South Atlantic. BF-109 - FW-190 A8 - F4 - F5 - F14 - F16 - F86 - I16 - Mig 15 - Mig 21 - Mosquito - P47 - P51 - Spitfire.

I used gamers by night guide with no luck already.

I tried vr with the cv1, then the quest 2 and how the g2, unfortunately even if it looks great in the first few hours I think it just isn’t for me: nothing beats the crispness of a 4k screen for me. To each his own I guess
