lesthegrngo Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 Hi All, I'm looking for some advice on how to clean up what appears to be multiple installations on my PC I updated to the latest stable version of DCS, but when I clicked on the icon on the desktop it opened, reporting that it was at version 2.5.6.49798, also showing me logged in and with the A10C pack installed (from a DVD bought years ago) However it was supposed to be 2.8.4.39731. When I started looking around I saw a new DCS icon on the desktop as well as the one I normally use, this one titled 'DCS World'. When I clicked on that, it opened and correctly reported the version as being 2.8.4.39731, it also showed me that I was logged in.... but that the A10C pack was not installed. When I right click on the properties one each Icon, this is what shows up - this is the 'old' version DCS World "D:\DCS World\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" "D:\DCS World\DCS World" and the new DCS.exe - Shortcut "D:\DCS World\bin\DCS.exe" "D:\DCS World\bin" So somehow I have managed to create two instances of DCS inside the DCS World folder I prefer the non-steam version of DCS as I run the DSC BIOS system to interface my home built cockpit. So what I want to know is how to clean this up and get the already registered DCS A10C pack to show up on the updated version. Both versions are logged in with the same ID, and neither seems to conflict with each other. I am happy to keep the older version in case there is an issue with the new one but need the A10C DLC to show up and for there not to be any conflict Any help given is gratefully received Les
MAXsenna Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 Without browsing through your file structure, I'd say you can probably just delete the DCS World folder in the DCS World folder. For some reason it seems you have copied some of the folders up a level. But if I were you, I'd just delete the whole DCS World at the root, and do a complete re-installation, because I don't think a repair can fix this automatically.Cheers! lesthegrngo Posted June 16, 2023 Author Posted June 16, 2023 Thanks - I am not sure how it happened. What about the DVD activation, isn't there a limit to the number of times? I'm worried if I delete everything it won't be able to be reactivated Cheers Les

Hi, Before venturing a diagnostic, can you take a look at your /Saved Games/ folder and tell us what folders you have within? For example, on my /Saved Games/ ("Juegos Guardados" on my spanish Windows) I have these folders: What I'm looking for is to see if your DCS instances have separate settings folders at /Saved Games/ or share a common one .. on my PC I have a single DCS folder: DCS.OpenBeta (the other folders are created by other softwares, like the Viggen DLC, the Model Viewer v1 and v2, and the MiG-21 DLC. Once we know what folders you have, then we will be able to take a look at the Log file of each DCS, which will give us more information about your setup. Eduardo. lesthegrngo Posted June 17, 2023 Author Posted June 17, 2023 Here are the two .log files, interestingly the one from the DCS Warthog folder is from november 2022... dcs warthog.log dcs.log
Rudel_chw Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 the "dcs warthog.log" does not seem to be a dcs log file and contains no useful data, so probably your two DCS are using the same /saved games/DCS/ location … can you run your "old DCS", just up to its menu, then exit DCS, and then attach the /saved games/DCS/Logs/dcs.log file? macedk Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 I would start over completely. In the long run, it is the fastest option IMO. On the activation stuff, Contact support, I think they can do some magic. One tiny error in the jungle of copy/paste and redirecting and something in the game won't work. 1 OS: Win10 home 64bit*MB: Asus Strix Z270F/ CPU: Intel I7 7700k /Ram:32gb_ddr4 GFX: Nvidia Asus 1080 8Gb Mon: Asus vg2448qe 24" Disk: SSD Stick: TM Warthog #1400/Saitek pro pedals/TIR5/TM MFDs [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

lesthegrngo Posted June 17, 2023 Author Posted June 17, 2023 Unfortunately it came up with a message saying that the A10C pack is not authorised and so will be disabled. Looks like I need to seek support Les

Looks like I need to seek support Yes, it was a long shot .. the problem is that your ED user account is not aware of your prior A-10C license .. not sure how you will be able to proof its ownership to the support tech, even if you know the serial number of it. lesthegrngo Posted June 17, 2023 Author Posted June 17, 2023 Thanks - I sent them a ticket, let's see what they say Les 1
lesthegrngo Posted June 18, 2023 Author Posted June 18, 2023 Frustratingly the response to the ticket was to essentially ask me to repeat what I already did from the suggestions above, neatly ignoring the fact that the ticket was titled 'Reactivating DLC bought as a DVD' I even quoted a link to this thread hoping they would look and see what had been done. I've replied stressing the need for the reactivation, but I am not optimistic Les
lesthegrngo Posted June 18, 2023 Author Posted June 18, 2023 Got it back now, the instructions said to redownload it, as the authorisation was still active. Happy to say that it worked, so all good now Cheers for the assistance guys Les 4
