key_stroked Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 (edited) *edited to reclarify the issue (I originally explained the problem backwards) The issue (for those who are unaware): When an AGM-65 Maverick is uncaged and TMS UP puts you into IRMV mode to slew the seeker head, there's a bug with the "TDC Slew Vertical" axis in Axis Commands. Specifically, the bug is if you slew vertically first and then add in horizontal slew, it stops the seeker head from slewing. To slew vertically without interruption, you have to ensure that there is ZERO horizontal input while you're slewing vertically. If at any point during a vertical slew it detects some horizontal input, it stops slewing altogether and the reticle just freezes. It also means you effectively cannot slew diagonally if you start the slew with vertical input. The only workaround I've ever seen for this is to put such a large deadzone into the horizontal TDC slew axis (for the Warthog throttle thumbstick/cursor) that it practically makes it impossible to make fine adjustments horizontally. This bug has been going back 4+ years, and at one point Razbam said they fixed it but it was never actually fixed. It makes slewing the Maverick seeker head a total PITA and I've had to abandon many an attack run because I just couldn't get the stupid crosshair on the target to get a lock. Focha Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 I think no one cares for the Harrier anymore... A lot of problems and old bugs. 4 ASUS N552VX | i7-6700HQ @ 2.59GHz | 16 GB DDR3 | NVIDIA GF GTX 950M 4 Gb | 250 Gb SSD | 1 Tb HD SATA II Backup | TIR4 | Microsoft S. ricktoberfest Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 (edited) I bind the slew axis to virtual buttons now using joystick gremlin. Edited June 21, 2023 by ricktoberfest

I care for the Harrier… Even though I have half of all the other modules, AV8B is my most played one. If you stop complaining about problems and bugs, you could overcome them. at the moment I learn to fly F/A-18 to help a friend getting into that module and it does not feel better than the AV8B 1

I read the chucks guide and there is no function missing. Everything else is classified. So I never read the original manuals by ED or Razbam or else 3rd party dev. They all were bad until this time so I always got my missing information somewere else.
Capn kamikaze Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 You can work around this bug by using a fairly wide dead zone on both X and Y axis, like 15% on both. Cured it for me, I could even move it around diagonally without issue. I would also recommend reducing the Y graph axis saturation on both to about 20% to make it less sensitive. 1
