Just a quick message to ask if there is any plans to expand the Force Feedback implementation.

For your consideration please......

  1. AoA buffet - just a little shake near the limits of AoA
  2. Ground Roll & Expansion Joint Bumps
  3. Damage impact jolt
  4. Cannon "buzz" - just a light vibration in the background whilst the cannon fires
  5. Pickle - just a light jolt when weapons come off the rails
  6. Ground Impact Jolt - Wheels onto the tarmac on landing
  7. Background rumble whilst the gear or flaps travel
  8. Background effect whilst the Speedbrake is deployed

Most of the effects exist in some way in other modules.

Without wishing to sound like a smart alec, not interested in comments from others who want to comment on the realism of such requests, the above could be "optional" so they could be setup to deliver the experience the user wants at an individual level, especially not interested to read comments about the validity of force feedback implementation from people who don't use a FFB stick or never used a FFB stick.

🙂

I am know I am that annoying guy , simple yes/no answers are completely fine - else we might have to look into a community solution, like we did with the hardware as well 😉

For the Rhino we have a software which augments DCS effects...
I recall @propeler was working on a similar software which would work with all sticks.
Which one do you have?

Rhino, but I am hoping the developers and ED will embrace some core upgrades with a gentle push from the community 🙂

IMO it would probably make a ton of sense for ED to build some core stuff like I listed and offer those fx as default core features, then the dev teams could go in and tailor the core values to suit their content........ideal world 🙂

On my joystick most of it implemented.

1. yes

2. roll yes, joint bumps hardly possible even if to implement natively. It is only texture feature.

3. in work

4. in work

5. in work

6. yes

7. yes

8. yes.

It works for all planes

Well, this is music to my ears, which stick are you using yourself out of interest ??

Actually current  firmware supports couple more effects that are in the list above. And there are some in work now.

Here you can see some effect settings

So this isn't an official endeavour then, a result of your DIY stick ?

I just upgraded to a Rhino - another stick born of the need to build a modern FFB stick, just like your project.

Of course, in an ideal world I am looking for official support really, obviously what you are doing is very cool as well 🙂

On a side note, given the work you are doing on these effects maybe there is something ED/Other dev teams could learn from your journey implementing this stuff ??

Not official. Calculating forces from telemetry.

Unfortunately we will not get it until some big players enter the FFB joystick world. It does not make a lot of sense to support FFB for couple of DIY builders.

And as for me standard Direct X FFB is a bit outdated protocol. It does not allow to utilize what is possible now on hardware side. I would better have just more data available in telemetry to build proper FFB. Several factors about hardware(at least max torque) need to be taken into consideration BEFORE force calculation. FFB calculated for weak Sidewinder device is dull and empty on powerfull FFB device with 10kg force on the grip level. It lacks details and nuances.

And yep. FFB need to be done on module level, so ED could not do much there.

Well, you of course have my support and best wishes,  in the case of this module just seeing the fx lifted up to the same standard as other modules would be a good start.
