cant lock target

Hi people, been practicing, now i can just about fly and trim the beast without crashing too often, decided i would try and learn weapons employment. However, despite having watched the producers notes and the training missions, i cannot seem to get the lock on the target. i have the master arm on, Laser on, turn on target on, designate with the HMS, find the target, get the gate on it, adjust the size, select the weapon, but when I press the enter button, or S1 on my cougar, ( using the viper profile), it will not lock, i dont get the C symbol and my weapons wont release. I have been trying to get this working all day and am running out of ideas. What am i missing here? What would cause all the above to be functioning exactly as it appears to inthe tutorial, save it wont lock when i press the button?

And No, I am not attempting to be difficult........It's just easier to fathom your actions and as a consequence, probable cues as to the reason behind your difficulties when one has the track to dissect as opposed to your explanation........not that your expalnation is lacking ;)

And yeah - have you tried locking the target with the Keyboard Keypress a opposed to the Cougar Input? Might be a Foxy/Cougar glitch.

You don't mention the weapon arm - it's the switch under the diagram of the hardpoints, across and down a bit from the master arm. Did you flick that?

Hi Guys, yes , i have turned the weapon arm on. How do you record a track? Viper, i tried using the cougar and the keyboard.

Just fly a Single Player mission. When you exit, you will have an option to save the track.

Sounds like you are not selecting inner (i) or outter hardpoint (y) as applicable.

Hi rapid, lobo, i did select the hardpoint, the green light came up over the outer hard point with the ATGM's. I held the button down for a long time, believe me! Had not tried to fire the cannon, as I was in auto mode and thought you had to have it locked to engage. Viper,I am just going to fly the mission again and will save a track for you kind fellas to look at. Promise you wont laugh too much at my clumsy flying!....

OK, I have flown the mission, I did seem to be able to lock the target with the cannon, you will see after I tried the ATGM's and had no luck, it worked with the cannon. Now, how do I get the track file so you can look at it? Its on my desktop at the moment....

I just tried again, and this time, I managed to get off 2 missiles, but could not get it to repeat. One went off as i was just pushing the launch button in frustration, i saw the C flash up, but then i could not replicate that. Then a few minutes later after some more fiddling around, I got another one off. The cannon seemed to work however, but i could only get those 2 missiles off, after that no luck. From what i've seen so far, the reason for you not being able to lock anything is because your targeting bracket is way too big, its not supposed to go around the vehicle, ideally it's smaller or as big as the vehicle. 2nd, dude, you're wayyyyy too close. If that would have been live fire with a tank or a bmp, they would have nailed you with their guns or missiles big time, you're also close to the minimum range of the vikhr. Also when flying, try to keep the ball centered, but thats just a minor flaw. And finally, you have to superimpose the two reticles to be able to fire a vikhr, watch the producer's note on weapon empoyment if you don't get what i mean.

Have you got your target within the Vikhar targetting circle? You need to align that with your shkval circle. Once the small circle (shkval) is within the bigger circle (fire envelope of the vikhar), the C will pop up and you can fire.
