My Wingmen are driving me crazy.

First of all whats the best way (formation) to avoid your wingmen crashing into u? Its annoying when one of em buggers kills u with no reason.

And what about the AI attack behaviour. It's weird sometimes.

When i use em for attack they often die in a heroic suicide mission. :huh: For example:

- Wingman detected targets from save distance.

- I ordered him to hold position / gave him ingress point.

- I ordered him to attack (a single!) datalink target he just spotted.

- Although clear on sight (6 Km to target) and fully loaded with AT-Missles he went off to engage the target with full speed and died because he went way too far into bad country.

What am i doing wrong? :helpsmilie:

As for ensuring that they don't fly into, make sure to be aware of where they are and don't make sudden sharp maneuvers in that direction. Also, if they are rejoining formation it might be advisable to not maneuver if possible. It's a little bit of babysitting but I haven't been rammed since I started making a small effort in that direction.

Wingmen's attack behaviour and tendensy to fly too close are mainly a question of their skill level as set in mission creation, I believe. There's also some tricks through giving them more specific orders via the datalink, but I am not all that good on that stuff. Most of the time I just use them as a recon slave and then as an initial SEAD flight. :P

I agree - I get very frustrated by the wingman going way too close when given an attack command. The only thing I have found is that if you give them an order to attack a data link group they seem to keep a better distance than if you give them a single target.

I am not talking about sharp maneuvers here. It happened that i hovered at some point when wingman 2 asked permission to attack bandit. I allowed his request then he hit me from behind. I agree to allways have an eye on your flight group. However i just don't have the time for babysitting 3 Wingmen when i am in the middle of a battle. :joystick: Plus as i descriped this happened to me in hover mode, twice.

@JAck: Will try.

oh and a question: I've seen a producers note where Wingmen are marked red. Where is that secret button?

On the ABRIS? You just have to power up all datalink systems and be on the same frequ. with your wingmen (default).

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.
