Maybe this will put to bed the notion that we are waiting for this technology to arrive. It's already here so it begs the question why DCS isn't using it yet.

DCS already has "some level of destructible environment" most buildings can be destroyed to some degree, bridges can be destroyed.

This begs the question as to why DCS has not made trees destructible yet especially when you consider the player base generally desires as much realism as possible.

There could many reason. Perhaps it would require to make each tree individually(instead of technology like speed tree that let's you do it more automated)

Mabye ED feels it would require to much computer power (calculating the destruction of 1 bridge or 4 houses vs 200-1000 trees) 

I don't know the inner workings of how all this works.
