Hello All,

Not sure if this has been addresses (a quick search didn't bring anything up with the term 'disappearing'), but I've been noticing that F1's are disappearing at certain levels of zoom. LOD issue? Observe:

This does not happen with any other module as far as I can tell.

I don't see it disappearing on your video ? It might be only me but I don't see an issue, maybe tell me at witch time in the video you don't see it anymore ?
(I don't want to be mean or anything)

My Setup : i5-4690 3.50GHz + 24GB RAM DDR3 1600MHz + MSI RTX 2060 Super Ventus OC + 2 SSD + 4 HDD + Oculus Rift CV1 + TM T.16000M Hotas

Within the first second or two it completely dissappears before he zooms out further.

There do seem to be some weird issues with dissappearing LOD's on particle effects and some dissappearing plane dots since the last patch or two, it's not constrained purely to the F1.

Okay I got what you mean, I still see a dot that is one pixel, but yeah it looks like the LOD has an issue? Or maybe you have low view distance setting?
Not saying that you're wrong just asking myself what could be wrongnull

View distance setting won't mess with LOD's like that afaik. Not plane LOD's, as the object draw distance stays at 80k regardless of view distance setting.

I have seen problems elsewhere with plane dots dissappearing/re-appearing based on head movement and/or zoom, they appear to have messed with something in the last patch or two. Been reported elsewhere, but good to have more info on it.

For me I always see the dot, but the F1 3D model disappear indeed

Some additional information based on the replies:

  • I have been noticing this since before the latest patch - probably 1-2 months now actually
  • View distance is set to Ultra - this is within 10nm
  • For anyone just seeing this, the disappearing happens within the first second or 2. It helps to grab the video tracker and slide it back and forth to see when it disappears and reappears.
  • It looks like its the 3D model disappearing, as the dot stays as it should.

Update after 2.9:

After experiencing some massive and frequentr freezing in MT, I decided to give ST a shot. Here are my ST settings:

I then encountered a Mirage.

I have this same issue except all of the LODs are missing except the closest one. Did you ever find a solution?

Could someone check if this is still an issue? I can't reproduce it, taking into account that we have added/fixed LODs in our last update. Also, it would have been better if you had provided a short trk. Thank you.

I created a mission in the editor, that had 2 F1CE AI aircraft in it.   After they landed at an airport on Cyprus (Syria Map)  they were visible for a while, then they disappeared.

Hard to check without a trk.

It was a long mission, and I noticed this problem toward the end.  I did not know that it was an issue, and mentioned on the forum, until long after the mission was over.  I will try to get a track next time.

Here is a Track of the issue.  It is a long Track and the problem shows up right at the end (I quit the mission when I saw the problem).  I am flying the F-4E heading toward 2 Mirage F1CE parked on a ramp at an airport on Cyprus.   You can see the labels as I approach but then they disappear.  I went to F10 Map view to confirm, and they were gone.
