tezak Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Hi, It would be great if we could have the ability to shade the sunglare on the mpcds with the vr hands. It would be extremely useful and great for inmersion. It´s already been a couple of times I´ve tried to do it without realizing while playing. 3

If you are flying with VR controllers, that would be a possibility. I'm flying with HOTAS, so my hands aren't tracked, and this would require that I add additional tracking devices to my hands. Definitely possible with my VR rig, but I'm not much interested in spending some 100 USD per hand just to raise them (it's positional tracking, not finger tracking - the fingers of the hand will not be animated and the hand will look like it was carved from stone, quite immersion breaking). And then you'd have to implement full IK (Inverse Kinetics) animation for the pilot model so the bode moves to keep the hand attached to the arm attached to the body. Computationally intensive. So yes, a definite possibility, but I'm not convinced that it's worth the effort.
A.F. Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Tracking the hands is possible with Leap Motion. The virtual fingers move like the original. And you can operate switches in the cockpit. (Only with ED modules) However, the hands do not create shadows 1

I noticed the other week that the leap hands are casting shadows, I don't know how effective they might be at shading the MFDs though, I'll have to have a try! I have to try that out right away 1
edmuss Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Indeed, I noticed the shadows on the cockpit, in theory they might cast onto the instruments and shade it enough? 1 Ryzen7 7800X3D / RTX3080ti / 64GB DDR5 4800 / Varjo Aero / Leap Motion / Kinect Headtracking TM 28" Warthog Deltasim Hotas / DIY Pendular Rudders / DIY Cyclic Maglock Trimmer / DIY Abris / TM TX 599 evo wheel / TM T3PA pro / DIY 7+1+Sequential Shifter / DIY Handbrake / Cobra Clubman Seat Shoehorned into a 43" x 43" cupboard.
edmuss Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 Just tested it, with the leap motion hands you can 100% shadow your instruments. Only tested on the A10 syria free flight but if the sun is glaring off the glass you can raise your hand to shade it 1 1 Ryzen7 7800X3D / RTX3080ti / 64GB DDR5 4800 / Varjo Aero / Leap Motion / Kinect Headtracking TM 28" Warthog Deltasim Hotas / DIY Pendular Rudders / DIY Cyclic Maglock Trimmer / DIY Abris / TM TX 599 evo wheel / TM T3PA pro / DIY 7+1+Sequential Shifter / DIY Handbrake / Cobra Clubman Seat Shoehorned into a 43" x 43" cupboard.
