Turd Ferguson Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 (edited) Hi, I'm looking to purchase an Orion 2 Throttle with the F15e grips however looking at the website there are different options for both grips. I know I want E with fingerlifts rather than the EX but what is meant by duel throttle connectors? Is that each grip has it's own connector? If I order that one does it not have finger lifts? Sorry if this is a daft question i've currently got a mixture of Virpil and TM gear so haven't got a clue where WW are concered. Hoping an Orion owner will know. Thanks Edited August 25, 2023 by Turd Ferguson Oh hell, let's go nuts. Swords for forty eight thousand
MustangSally Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Finger lifts are ordered with the base. Each grip has its own din style connector. The E grip is an exact replica of the F-15E while the EX just has a ton more buttons. Turd Ferguson Posted August 25, 2023 Author Posted August 25, 2023 Thanks @MustangSally do you know what is meant by duel throttle connectors and if I ordered that would it not have finger lifts? One option when ordering is finger lifts and the other is Duel Throttle Connectors. Not sure what the difference is. Oh hell, let's go nuts. Swords for forty eight thousand

It means that the Orion base can connect a single throttle (F-16) or dual F/A-18 or F-15. If you are flying the 18 or 15 predominately then order with the finger lifts. Go to the site and click on each variation and you'll see what is included. Elevation wheel operates differently, multifunction switch is different (not 5 way), additional buttons on the left grip not present on the real one, coolie is different (not 5 way). Ergonomically, the design is close, but the functions are different in a few ways. Not saying it's good or bad as it's their way of adding additional buttons on the stick, but it's not what I would classify as being exact as their was either intent there, or a misunderstanding of how they operate IRL. People should understand they are not getting an exact replica. 1 1

Personally, my only real disappointment in it is the way the amt elev functionality is done. 2

And how‘s your opinion on the throttle in general? Did you buy the EX version (rumble feature?!) Did you buy the EX version (rumble feature?!) That the real one is a minimal movement/force sensing and that one is made as a rotary switch. I understand that the force sensing would likely be cost prohibitive, but DX buttons would have been a much better/closer to realistic option. I do not own either of them. The two things that would have probably gotten me to bite on them would have been that switch being better implemented, and their finger lifts having actual DX button functionality too. A bonus would have been the radio switch being updated from the 2 direction slide to the 4-way which happened when they added the extra radio...but that wouldn't have made/break it for me. 3
Brun Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Going back to the OP, I struggled to fully understand this as well. My Orion2 F-15EX *with finger lifts* arrived today and I think I understand more clearly now. The throttle handles don't connect directly to the throttle levers on the base, the finger lifts fit between each. That being the case, I'm assuming that the 'dual throttle connectors' are just a pair of simple adapters without the finger lift mechanisms.
