Hi folks,

I just updated to Win11, reinstalled DCS and using a Crytsal.

system specs:

5800x3D

4090

32Gigs of RAM at 3200MHz

RogStrix B550 motherboard

My problem:

don’t wanna go too deep into the Crystal setup as this is maybe not needed right now but I am using the OpenXR toolkit and the OpenPX software.

My Grafik setup is mostly high but many things are turned down or off as well and I am not overloading my PC I guess.

Flying my test mission in Syria/ Free Flight/ F16, it gives me between 75 to 80 fps but looking sideways I have heavy stuttering - the frame counter does not drop during that.

with these fps, the stutters should be eliminated but they are there as I would have 25fps.

Turning down the resolution to from 3200x to 2600x eliminated the stuttering but the frame rate counter doesn’t do much - maybe goes to 85-90 - but that can’t explain why even with 80fps before it feels like a cinema in old times.

plus, going down below 3000pixels looks waaaay worse than in the G2 before.

I tried quite a few things with upscaling in openxr (motion reproduction is not available in the Crystal) but that all doesn’t change it.

every help is highly appreciated! I tried to find something in the forum but couldn’t find a solution - maybe you guys are in a better work-flow regarding this problem.

thanks and always blue skys

You might be getting some VRAM issues, in VR DCS can exceed 24GB of VRAM usage, turn down MSAA and Texture setting and delete your fxo and metashaders2 folders (in saved game) and check if it fixed your issue.

No, fortunately that didn’t help.
Great fps but stuttering like crazy looking everywhere else than sideways. 🙄

Are you using a SSD or not ? Did you set up the pagefile correctly ?

If you mean the stutters are not showing on the fps graph but instead are purely visual, do me a favor and try locking DCS' fps in nvidia control panel to your headset refresh rate, then do the same in the graphics.lua, see if it changes anything.

He's talking about this sort of problem, which is not hardware related. It's a DCS MT problem.

Playing around with fps caps and refresh rates seems to help minimise it if not eliminate it entirely.

Oh... I might have this issue too then!

Everyone does, it seems something gets out of sync and terrain stutters even at 180 fps while everything else is smooth. Capping your fps via nvidia and the graphics.lua seems to reduce it if not stop it entirely, just cap it at your VR headsets refresh rate or your monitors refresh rate.

I don't use VR headset

I do and limiting the FPS back to my Refresh rate make the game more smoother and disabling V-Sync help too !

Sorry for that maybe dumb question - but what is the correct limit for the refresh rate? For example, i've set my quest 2 to 120hz so is the limit 60 or 120? because 60per eye?

i9-9900K / Bios Profile XMP2 / Rog Strix Z-390F Gaming / ASUS TUF Geforce RTX 4070Ti Super / 32GB HyperX Fury 2666 / Saitek X52 HOTAS / Pico 4

Refresh rate doesn't divide like that. Resolution does, but refreshrate not.

One is "per space", the other is "per time".

60Hz per Eye is 60Hz overall.

ok so if i set 120 as fps limit within the graphics.lua or/and nividia control panel it should be correct?

I doubt that any VR-setup will reliable produce 120Hz in DCS, but other than that - it should.

Thanks for the inputs and sorry for my late reply - I am not often home these days due to work.

I tried to set the Nvidia control to a fixed refreshrate but couldn’t find the grafic.lua

is it in saved games or in the main folder?

what I tried till now didn’t solve it 🙄

You need to add a autoexcec.cfg in your config file (the one in saved games\DCS(.Openbeta)\
and then add this command and put the right fps limit :
options.graphics.maxfps = "174"

"autoexec.cfg" I didn't saw that I made a mistake

Thanks! I hope I understood your instructions correctly and will try it out next time I‘m home (2 weeks). And it’s written „autoexcec.cfg“?
