Raviar Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 right now its not possible to make condition which AI doesnt detect bandit, AI will always detect bandit even from blind spot. Would be crusial to have AI which actually search the sky via Radar or visually 3
Exorcet Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 (edited) My testing disagrees: However that is not to say that improvements can't be made. The AI seems to have 0 reaction time and scans its entire field of view instantly. Those are things that need to change. Very often I've seen the AI turn 180 and instantly launch a missile, when at least some of the time it should have to search for a visual on the target. EDIT A little more testing, something odd is that the AI doesn't react via RWR unless it is STT locked. Flying behind the MiG with radar on did not lead to any reaction. Also, when STT locked, the MiG apparently found me on radar and IRST somehow despite being out of the FoV of both. I am playing DCS since 2016, I am not sure if anything changed since in that regards but I believe it is still same as before! AI will detect with some strange logic, not via RWR, not via Radar and not visually, however I might be wrong. but unaware bandit is not an option in scenarios as of now. means if there were no GCI (which is another discussion for GCI and Radar, the earth is flat in DCS as of now (good for flat earth followers creatures) and that means RWR, Radar ... not getting limited or obstructed base on ALT and/or obstacles) and if I as player have some info (GCI, AWACS, DataLink ...) that somewhere in the sky I should find bandit, they will notify even If I do fly with radar off and closing from 6 O'Clock Edited October 1, 2023 by Raviar 1
Exorcet Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 (edited) The AI cannot spot me from behind and below unless I STT lock it. I made the mission above to test AI spotting ability, and they are not all seeing. They do have sensors and spot enemies using them, but those sensors are very simple. Of course, my situation is best case and can be hard to replicate in a real fight against the AI. This is because of the factors I mentioned (reaction time, etc) and other things like blind spots having no effect once an AI spots you. In the second image since my radar is on, it is fair that the AI knows I am there, but it shouldn't know where I am - yet it has my position exactly. FlankerKiller Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 It’s definitely not all seeing. But it acts like it has the most Sifi data link ever. If there is other Ai, AWCS, GCI that sees you it will be notified instantly. I’ve tested this to death playing hid and seek with Ai F-15Cs and EW radars over the Nevada map. The moment that GCI sees you that F-15 is coming. But you can hid from him if you are really good a notching. Eventually he will give up. I have had the Ai loose me in WWII fights. While everything can be improved this is an area that might be ok at the moment. 3
