buceador Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Clearly I have missed the relevant YouTube video... After tuning to the relevant frequency and opening the comms menu and selecting ATC for the relevant airfield I get no response, nor if I set in ME a frequency of 127 for my wingman, what have I missed? Thanks in advance...
razo+r Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) Are you also using the correct radio PTT button? Volume turned up aswell? Edited October 20, 2023 by razo+r

Thanks razo+r but this has only occurred after the 2.9 update, normally I assign 127 on COMM 2 to my wingman or in ME but also I cannot contact any airport ATC, I've been following the same procedure for 4 years without any problems but suddenly today the world is frighteningly quiet! Edit: the Viper doesn't have a PTT button as far as I'm aware. Edited October 20, 2023 by buceador

Assuming you are not using "easy comms" option you have PTT Button for VHF and PTT Button for UHF, you need to press one or the other depending which radio you want to use to contact the tower or whoever you want. I don't mean you have to keep pressing it when using AI radio commands but just press it to open the comms menu. It makes a difference which radio button you use to open the comms menu. Also pay atenttion that you can tune the radio to either a preset channel like 1, 2 or 3 for example or manual frequency. Ok, In the Viper you press the COMM 2 button for VHF, enter the desired frequency of the corresponding ATC and ENTER, press F12, select the relevant ATC and the relevant request, for example INBOUND... I have been using this system for 4 years without any problems, today I get no response, I have attached a track file.. As I have said this problem ONLY started today after the 2.9 update. Many thanks COMMS.trk

Try using keybind for "Transmit switch" there is one for UHF and one for VHF. You need to select which radio you want to use - all i can think of is that you are used to the "easy comms" option and either they are phasing it out or it is bugged, i can't really help you with that as i don't know how it is supposed to work. Chain_1 Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Use Rt Ctrl + \ to open the menu for comm 2. Also input the correct frequency: 131.00 in this case. 1

The same with contacting my wingman! Many thanks! I can assure you however that this has not been necessary in the Viper before 2.9! Again, many thanks.

Wing mate in Virtual Squadron ran into same question, so you're not totally losing your mind
xt086 Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 I got the same problem with the f18 after patch yesterday. I didn't try another module yet.
Prime Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Right Alt and Ctrl is news to me. It seemed to have worked. I did not know that it separated the two radios with key binds.
SickSidewinder9 Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 I was having the same problem. Is that why I couldn't get TDOA to work with my squadron? I know in the Hornet you have to select the right radio once you're off the ground, do you have to do that in the Viper now too? Wingmen weren't responding at all.
