Ironghost Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Sorry, could someone explain to me how and where the liveries of planes and other units should be inserted, I'm having difficulty doing this because there are various paths in the game, in coremods in bazar in the game save folder and in the unit folders, I'm in confusion, how do I understand the right path? Thank you.
razo+r Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 There are two ways. You either drop them in the saved games directory (Though I don't know how to do that, but I'm sure someone else will explain) or You drop them into the liveries folder of the unit you want. And where exactly this unit is located depends on the age. Old models like for example the F-15C, Su-25 etc are in the bazar directory. So just go to bazar/liveries/Aircraft and drop them in there. Newer aircraft like the F-15E, F-18C are in the CoreMods directory. So go to CoreMods/Aircraft/.../Liveries/.../ and drop them in there. Also, most skins come with an install instruction. To be 100% certain, read it if one is available.

Thank you. All three methods work actually, that's why you see all mentioned, but it's recommended to choose and stick to one to avoid causing unnecessary mess in main game folder. I was using bazar location for all skins for years, but this weekend decided to switch to Saved Games location just to keep custom skins separate from my other mods and thus manage them easier with OVGmE. It's personal preference thing, followed by your partitions space available. If you choose to do the same, in Saved Games you simply need to manually create a folder called "Liveries". Then, this is where individual aircraft/unit folders should go (either created manually or unpacked from archive - correct naming is crucial, otherwise it won't work). Example from my "Liveries" folder is shown below. Last step, in each of these, you just drop individual skin folders and thats it. Remember that some skins are restricted to be visible only when unit is assigned to some specific country in the mission editor. It can be changed by editing description.lua file, but that's something you'll tinker with later. Get the basics right at first. 1 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Ironghost Posted October 22, 2023 Author Posted October 22, 2023 Thank you for the explanation, now to give an example I put a folder of skins for the B-52 and the names are there but the skins do not change, perhaps because the path is wrong or because they are not compatible with the new version (B-52) of ED?
razo+r Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 The new model is not compatible with the old skins. But besides that, there seems to be weird stuff going on with the new models anyway so I would wait a bit.
In fact it seems that this new update 2.9 has created quite a few problems, thanks again.
