hawa0835 Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Stuttering occurs again, and it always in the Sinai-map.
hawa0835 Posted October 29, 2023 Author Posted October 29, 2023 Very strange, I try the same mission in Sinai-map, and suddenly most of the stuttering disappear, very strange, I do not know what it is.
hawa0835 Posted October 31, 2023 Author Posted October 31, 2023 I did a test with a fly over Cairo with the Ka-50 3, and no stuttering, but a lot with Ah-64, so much that you can't fly with it.
The_Nephilim Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 could you post a .trk file and your dcs log files?? The_Nephilim Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 OK I looked at the log and it appears you have a 8400CPU?? IF so that could be an issue somewhat depending on your option settings.. Did you try and use DLSS?? So if you please can you also post your DXDiag and screenshot of your settings? thank you.. Flappie Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 @hawa0835 Your pagefile is very small (3 GB). 2023-10-31 19:49:40.940 INFO APP (Main): CPU cores: 6, threads: 6, System RAM: 32659 MB, Pagefile: 3443 MB If you have enough room on your fastest drive, you could use a bigger pagefile. Here's a guide: https://mcci.com/support/guides/how-to-change-the-windows-pagefile-size/ (I suggest : min size = 32768 and max size = 32768). Just don't do it on a HDD (only on 2.5" SSD or NVMe drive). I tried the tracks and had no performance issue. 1 ---
The_Nephilim Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 yes the tracks played fine too for me as well. I did notice the smaller pagefile but wanted to see what system Hawa was using.. Flappie Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Thanks. I see both DCS and your Saved Games folder are located on your system drive, which is the fastest you have, and it has more than enough free space. No problem here. I see you have one HDD (D:\ and E:\) and one USD drive (G:\). I'd like to ensure your pagefile is not stored on any of them. Please run this command in a "cmd" window and paste the result here: wmic pagefile list ---

Flappie Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Good. Now is the time to try a bigger pagefile. Follow this guide: https://mcci.com/support/guides/how-to-change-the-windows-pagefile-size/ Use min size = 32768 and max size = 32768. ---
hawa0835 Posted November 1, 2023 Author Posted November 1, 2023 I tested after changing the pagefile, but the problem still remains, and it is only with the AH-64.
The_Nephilim Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Do you have a logitech gaming mouse?? if so what is the poll rate set at? hawa0835 Posted November 1, 2023 Author Posted November 1, 2023 No i don't have a Logitech mouse. But a strange thing, i played some of my missions i Sinai, and it was almost no stuttering with the AH-64, and the strange thing was that i roll back the size of the pagefile. I think that the problem lie in the 2.9 update, the game work smoothly before that update. 1

Well I have noticed that is the wierd thing with DCS and every update no matter what some users have no issues and some do.. now some find out it was their PC or some hardware issue. If it was just 2.9 then everybody would experience it. I have a lesser PC then most in VR and I have no issues. I seen users with a 4090 say they have issues while I have a 1080ti and have no issues.. Not sure what is going on but it usually boils down to something on the user PC being the cause and there are numerous fixes I have not seen any one fix all solution. even then sometimes it is a couple issues combined that cause the issue.. It is usually something overlooked If I had any gumption I would sort out most of the common issues and make a thread on common issues.. I would sya keep searching.. but maybe you reached the limit of your CPU and while it worked in 2.8 maybe 2.9 was just too much IDK but it seems wierd.. Yes, the Syria map is very heavy. It's amazingly detailed, but takes a toll in game performance. This is how I solved most of the stuttering: 1) Let the map load. Yep, mission started, let it load, takes about 1 minute (yea, it sucks, I know...) 2) Check if your CPU is throttling up and down. I have a 10700K and it tries to get the best performance to run any game, so it tries to run the clock as high it can to achieve that. But the CPU reaches max temperature, so it has to throttle down in order to protect the CPU, but goes up again in order to best run the game, but has to throttle down to protect the CPU, and so on and on. It was causing lots of stutters. And was making my CPU hotter than ever. The way I solved it was by limiting the CPU power input by undervolting it. Now the CPU knows what limit it can reach, it works at the maximum established (limited) power during the game, so no more throttling, no more stutters.
hawa0835 Posted November 3, 2023 Author Posted November 3, 2023 Very strange, I start with a free flight in Der-Ezzor, Syria, with a lot of stuttering, then, I exit DCS to desktop, start DCS again, fly the same flight, and no stuttering.
hawa0835 Posted November 4, 2023 Author Posted November 4, 2023 I did a long repair, and it seems to help a lot, some spikes, but a lot better than before, free flights over Cairo and Damascus. 2
hawa0835 Posted November 7, 2023 Author Posted November 7, 2023 Back in stable version for for the moment.
Flappie Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 The Sinai map flicker issue should be fixed with the next DCS update. 2 ---
