Very bad performance on VR since 2.9 Update, Video comparison with same settings

Since 2.9 DCS has become unplayable for me. I made a side to side video to show better the difference in FPS with the same settings on both.

I reverted to 2.8.8 to make a couple of videos and then updated again to 2.9 to record the same situation to show the massive difference between the 2.8 and 2.9

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oniY99zQQjM

(Sorry for the shakiness, and quality but it is my first video edit ever, the fps should be readable enough)

I hope that the video and the files attached can help find out what my issue is.

Cheers!

Are you on Steam?

Double-check if you are running the Multithread-bin. When you are in the Main Menu, does it say „MT“ in front of the version number?

Both sides of the video are the same settings, same headset resolution (Pymax Crystal). I did a complete reinstall of 2.9 deleted all the folders in program files and savedgames and got the same results.

Did you have motion reprojection on in one video and not the other? did you try DLSS? Do you have a logitech mouse?

I tried DLSS no change, also it looks like it doesn't matter what graphic settings I have in-game, it doesn't make a difference, went for low and high end and both do the same with almost the same framerate.

No reprojection on either. (Smart Smoothing on Pimax settings was off at all times)

I do have a logitech mouse o.O, one wired and one wireless.

I seen a post that I think Flappie mentioned issues with certain Logitech mice.. also did you check to see if you have a core parking issue or is that only intel issue?

What resolution are you running in your Pimax Crystal?? have you tried turning it down just for a test to see if that helps?

Ill check that Logitech thing.

I did disable the CPU parking but made no difference

I tried all the way to .5 resolution and still did not see much change.

From the video I noticed that the app CPU time considerably higher on 2.9, so it is probably related to CPU or cores, but no idea how to approach a problem with that.

yes the logitech thing had something I think to do with the polling rate.. OK core park checked.. Yes setting down the resolution should have made a change so maybe something with the CPU then??

Your GPU drivers which version I seen some issues with the latest or a few back from the latest had issues?

GPU drivers are 545.92, both tests on 2.8 and 2.9 were using the same drivers. Did not have any issues until I updated DCS to 2.9.

yes that is the thing some users had issues with newer nVidia drivers on 2.9.. if you do try and older version use DDU to uninstall them..

don't turn on the high resolution is not needed. check the task manager for high cpu usage for programs.. don't run any unnecessary  utils... dumb down aa, antialiasing, msaa, shadows... and bring them back one by one to make it better...

ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind

G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD

EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer)

Settings make absolutely no difference, I can put everything at minimum or off, resolution to minimum and the issue is exactly the same. Also no other software running is using any significant ammount of CPU.

I saw there was a new driver version released today, but no dice, same problem. I also went back a couple of versions back to 537.58 and still the same, I guess im gonna have to stick to 2.8 and no multiplayer for now.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found the culprit of low FPS and stutters on my system. HPET, disable HPET and there's a good chance that your stutter or low fps problem will go away.

To disable run a cmd as administrator and type:

bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock

bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes

Reboot

Test that your stutter/low FPS problem is gone.

Mine is already off, shame. Every time I think I've "fixed it" it comes back. Let us know how it goes.
