I started this wonderful looking campaign a few days ago and at the same point in the mission (shortly after the flight is relieved to RTB) the engine shuts off. Temperatures are all in the green. RPMs are about 2500 and manifold pressure is less than 50. When I look at the mission summary to see what broke, all that is listed is "Engine Was Shut Down". I have no buttons, voice commands or macros that shut down the engine so I am mystified. Any ideas. As I noted before this happens at precisely the same point in the mission. Thanks for any help!

What kind of shut down is it? Instant seizing? Or is it still windmilling? If its the latter one, have you checked the fuel? Is there still fuel in the selected tank? Did you switch to the correct tank?

It is an instant seize. No explanation in the after mission report. I switched fuel tanks (external to main) about 5 minutes earlier. I've been flying single missions for several months now and can manage the R2800 without mishap. This happens at the same mission point each time (RTB on relief from the 359th). I'm in a slow left turn and POOF. No sound just a stationary prop.

It's certainly not programmed into the mission. Precisely the same point doesn't mean anything, except it takes that long for the issue to develop. There are 3 possibilities:

1) some ghost binding. Maybe you accidentally pressed a button that was linked to something, like mixture control of fuel tank selector, etc..

2) The engine was damaged due to mismanagement

3) It's some random bug caused by any unofficial mod that you may have installed.

PS: I think ED changed something about the P-47's engine, I'm getting more engine failures lately but then the mission log says engine degraded or something like that.

If it seizes instantly, thats usually an indication that something broke, either due to mismanagement or a bug causing a sensitive engine.

If you say MP below 50, what exactly was it? Could it be you were overboosting the engine?

I appreciate the feedback and it's good to know that a mission trigger isn't involved. I do have one unofficial mod that slows the trim adjustment rate. I can disable that and see what happens. Since this happens after about a half hour of flight time would you guys be willing to look at a trk file and comment on what may be happening if shutdown occurs even after mod disabling. Flying this over and over for this long with no indication of the problem source just isn't an option. That said I acknowledge that it's probably something on my end so I'd like to get myself sorted out. Truly appreciate your responses and the incredible work put into creating this campaign, Reflected.

Yaaay! Reflected, I took your advice, disabled the trim mod (trim is definitely more challenging without it but...) and ran DCS Repair. No engine shutdown and I flew for over 1:45 hours. I got 2 190s but crashed looking at my kneeboard trying to navigate home. Doh! Anyway, it was a blast and I'll be jumping into this campaign every chance I get. Thank you sir for the work AND the support. Virtual beer hoisted to you 🍺
