sBinnala64 Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 Hi, I was wondering how I could make DCS look good in VR (Meta quest 2) with my current setup. My specs are: ASUS ROG Strix G10 ASUS/NVIDIA RTX 3060 64gb RAM i5-11400F DCS itself just looks terrible in VR, there's a lot of grainy and fuzzy stuff, I can barely read any gauges or displays on the F-14, and DLSS makes some things in the cockpit look much worse. Any tips?
Lange_666 Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 You better ask this question over in the VR section of the forum: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/302-virtual-reality/ Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL. Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

Any tips? Use DLAA only, not DLSS. Add sharpening to your preference, ex. slider to 0.5. On VR tab use higher PD setting until your performance is suffering. You probably won't go higher than 1.2 with 3060 though. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

Any tips? - Firstly, make sure you set the output from oculus app to the maximum setting. There is a slider. You need to output at about 1.5 the panel resolution. Are you using quest link cable? This is best for bitrate. See below. - Download oculus tray tool and increase the resolution to about 1.2. This should take your overall resolution to about 3400. - Use OTT to set the bitrate as high as your pc can handle. 996 is the highest. This will reduce compression artifacts. - Download quad views foveated rendering and use the default settings to use in fixed mode. This will reduce your GPU load by about 30%. - Start with DLSS quality and see how it looks with these settings. - Aim for 45 FPS with re-projection. If your system can't handle it, back off on the supersampling in OTT and play with the QVFR settings until you get a balance of quality/performance that suits you. With a 3060 you might need to aim for 30 FPS. Check the DCS VR forum for ideas and more support. 9800x3d; rtx5080 FE; 64Gb RAM 6000MHz; 2Tb NVME; Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4).
Mike_CK Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I find running the Quest 2 at 72hz (so 36fps) gives MUCH better performance AND visual quality while the difference in smoothness isn’t very noticeable. The terrain can load in and “process” much more smoothly whereas when I ran at 90 (45fps) the terrain could get “stutters”. Turn up quest resolution to max, get the OTT and increase bit rate and see if you can get to a PD of 1.2. I run terrain : high cockpit : medium and looks great to me

My PC does not have any USB-C ports, so I have to use an adapter, and idk if that's why it won't work.

You need to make sure that the USB cable is of the correct type, such as this one: YTEAM Link Cable Compatible Transfer and Charging Link Cable,5M USB 3.2 to Type-C Link Cable for PC and VR Headset. : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories 9800x3d; rtx5080 FE; 64Gb RAM 6000MHz; 2Tb NVME; Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4).

DCoffey Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 using the OTT set the FOV multiplier to 65 or 70. This someone explained to me causes stuff that you don't see in the headset to not render, this gives a good boost in FPS, I started at 85 and checked that I saw no difference and just kept going down by 5, when I got to 65, I noticed a slight black box effect on edges so moved it to 70. that's the sweet spot for me on my Quest 2.
Kevinjones Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Follow the below steps to make DCS look good in VR 1. Adjust Game Settings just Lower graphics settings in DCS World for better performance. 2. Check VR Settings and Lower VR pixel density if high and adjust render scale for smoother gameplay. 3. Check for the Update for Drivers, keep your graphics card drivers up to date for better compatibility. 4. Try higher resolutions for better visuals if your system can handle it. 5. Look for community mods that may improve performance or visuals. 6. Consider Hardware Upgrades, If performance is still poor, think about upgrading your GPU or CPU, or you can look for tools that can help optimize VR performance. Hope these steps may help you to improve the VR experience in DCS World on your Meta Quest 2 headset.
