Were Blue 2 and 4 with you?

This error happens when the script is fired and the groups are not alive in the mission. Normally they are, but if, due to some bug that only affects you, probably caused by some unofficial mod and/ or corrupted install, they aren't, you get this message.

Delete all mods, then run a slow repair, then try again.

Hi Reflected,

This same error happen to me as well. I don't have any mods installed and all files are verified for me. Probably it is missing something. Please verify.

Best regards,

Michal

hey i just posted in another topic about the starting positions for mission 3 stopping planes from taking off. i wonder if you are having this issue due the 10 or so planes getting stuck while taking like me.

Can you tell me whether blue 3 and 4 were with you when you were bounced? If not ,where did you last see them?

I can't verify because it works for me 10 out of 10 times and for most other players too. I can't selectively fix this for some players. For some reason your install must be corrupted somehow, but I have no way of telling how. My best guess is mods, and I mean ANY mods.

Hi Reflected,

Thank you so much for checking this issue. For it was exactly this moment (20" video below)

Straight after flight lead reported "enemy troops down below ..." I have noticed train station and decided to bomb it. When bombs hit the target, mission crashed for me.

I will manually open this mission on my computer and test it once again.

In meantime all the best,

@SkyWolfPL I ran the mission again. it worked. I tested the script separately. It worked. I tested the spawning of the Luftwaffe fighters, they spawned. I tested the startup, Blue 3 and 4 took off fine. I have no idea what's wrong with your install that gives you the error message, but as I said it usually happens when someone mentioned in the script is not alive. The Germans spawn 10 seconds before, so they must be alive. So I'm thinking about Blue 3 and 4, somehow your install got corrupted and they crash/ don't take off/ whatever.

Today morning I have tried to test it once again. This error is happening when you are trying to destroy some buildings with bombs. I have tried to destroy train station. This issue might be bug for the map. My installation is free from any mods. I don't use any mods at all. I have installed fresh DCS one or two months ago.

I will retest empty map and let you know.

Happened to me as well as soon as I dropped my payload on the guys near the bridge. Next time I flew the mission it was fine - no changes on my part. I did notice that when the flight lead turns to engage the ground troops at his 3 o'clock, numbers 3 & 4 go a bit squirrely and turn left instead, they do however show up a bit later just before the bounce.

Blue 3 and 4 were both there but as Sulaco said as flight leader turns to engage the ground troops at his 3 o'clock, numbers 3 & 4 go a bit squirrely and turn left instead.

I'll try the mission a second time and see what happens.

UPDATE:

This was a regular issue for me.

In the end I found the best solution was to jettison my bombs soon after take-off. The mission played through just fine.

These missions are challenging and beautifully crafted. Another superb campaign from Reflected.

I've had this error twice now on mission 3.  It happens after disengaging with the fighter ambush.

3 and 4 were there throughout the flight until the call to bomb the ground units.  They always break left when 1 breaks right.  I followed 3 and 4 in my last try and they seem to eventually circle back and find the ground units.  Everyone from cobweb blue seems to be where they should be at the time of the fighter ambush.  After this I turn north and eventually get the scripting error.

Maybe it's due to disengaging too quickly?  If I stay and try to fight until 1 calls to disengage I always die, so I try to get out immediately.

I was able to finish the mission after closing the error dialog box so it's not game breaking.

Before flying it this last time, I did a slow repair of DCS and remove extra files.  I also renamed my saved games DCS.openbeta file and let the game rebuild it in order to eliminate any mods or weird scripts.

Sorry guys, this still stands. The script gives you an error when the units it’s meant for are not alive. But for me they always are.

By the way if you hit Esc when it pops up, the mission will go on

I tell 3 and 4 to engage using a trigger. What they do after that, where they turn, how they run in, what speed and altitude, I have zero control of. That's up to ED's AI programmer.

You disengaging has nothing to do with the error.

I will add an "if unit alive" condition to the trigger, so the script only fires if the units in question are alive. Hopefully this will prevent some of you from seeing the message, but again, I just replayed it again and didn't get this error.

BTW you're supposed to follow Blue 1 not 3 and 4. Are you sure he was alive too? (even though he's set to immortal)

I’ve had this error today when flying the mission. I confirm I saw blue 3 and blue 4 disengage in the flak fields when we crossed the coast, so my reasoning was they got hit. I recently turned off tacview so I have no means of checking what really happened to them.

It did make the dialogue weird, but it for sure made me run for my life when lead and myself got bounced by some 15 bandits.

Thankfully I made it back, with some sleek aero-holes added by some guys named Focke and Wulf.
