KIWIHAWK Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900KF RAM 32 GB GIGABYTE RTX 4090 Pagefile is at 40000 After the last couple of updates the Game CTD very time at the world preload stage whilst loading into a mission. Sometimes at 1/60, sometimes it will get to 4-7/60 then CTD or even restart the computer sometimes. It will do it in VR or 2D. I have carried out a repair and have removed all mods. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the whole game. I have cleared the FXO and metashader files in saved games. I even cleared the whole saved games file. Have rolled the game back to 2.8.8.43704. The problem remains. I've now updated back to the latest open beta. Changing the options.lua to options.lua.bak, works just the once intermittently then its back to CTD. Check the logs below and see what you think. Thanks. dcs.log dcs1.log dcs2.log
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted January 23, 2024 ED Team Posted January 23, 2024 Hi, check your VAICOM isnt creating an issue. Also you have some hotplug events, try disabling hotplug in DCS controls If you overclock your cpu or gpu try default values. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? KIWIHAWK Posted January 24, 2024 Author Posted January 24, 2024 @BIGNEWY Thanks for the reply. The hot plug was already disabled, but I cycled the option anyway. I removed all traces of Vaicom that I could find. GPU and CPU are at default settings. The result is now I can load into the cockpit every time, which is progress. The CTD now occurs at or a few seconds after I press "FLY". Please see the logs attached to see what you or your colleagues think. Thanks. dcsMT.log dcs.log
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted January 24, 2024 ED Team Posted January 24, 2024 Hi, you seem to have issues loading some shaders Can you let me know about your E drive? is it your fastest drive and how full is it and is it an SSD? You should try the multi-threaded version of DCS World by using the dcs.exe in the mt-bin folder Make sure your display driver is up to date and windows. Go to saved games dcs folder C:\Users\your name\Saved Games\DCS\ delete fxo folder and metashader2 then restart DCS, it will take longer as it needs to create new shaders. Tuning Tips Set Preload Radius to max. 60000. Consider using DLAA. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Flappie Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 @KIWIHAWK Try this: uninstall your GPU driver, reboot, then install a fresh GPU driver. ---
KIWIHAWK Posted January 24, 2024 Author Posted January 24, 2024 @BIGNEWYThanks for the reply E: Drive is a Samsung 860 EVO SSD 1TB, it has 179GB free. Its my fastest drive and DCS lives on it. Windows 11 OS is on a different drive which is a Crucial CT125 SSD 254GB it has only 9.34GB free. I'll try all of your other suggestions when I have come off shift. @FlappieThanks for your suggestion. I'll uninstall my Nvidia driver using DDU, reboot and do a fresh install. Guys, I'll be in touch with the results, again thank you for your time looking into this, its much appreciated. 1
KIWIHAWK Posted January 25, 2024 Author Posted January 25, 2024 @BIGNEWY and @Flappie I've carried out the tasks you have suggested. The game does run I lot better and I can get in to fly a mission for a limited time some times 15 minutes, others only a few minutes. Have have attached some logs from the most recent CTDs for you to have a look at. Thank you. dcs.log dcs.log
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted January 25, 2024 ED Team Posted January 25, 2024 It looks like you are having trouble loading textures still. KIWIHAWK Posted January 26, 2024 Author Posted January 26, 2024 @Yuma I have not found a solution in with MT with random CTD. I converted over to stand alone from Steam about six months ago but kept using Steam VR for a while before moving to Open XR. So I tried ST but had some weird flicking in my headset (pimax 8K) in Open XR. I tried going back to Steam VR in ST. It seems to work in that arrangement. I had a 90 minute session in Multiplayer last night with no issues. I will still keep playing around, but it seems to work with ST and Steam VR at the moment. I would suggest carrying out all the suggestions from Bignewy and Flappie as they have improved performance quite a lot. 1
Solution KIWIHAWK Posted February 4, 2024 Author Solution Posted February 4, 2024 After trying everything I can think of, including removing, cleaning and refitting hardware, I updated my BIOS to the latest version. It now seems to work properly with no CTD. I had previously changed my CPU. This may have caused an issue with the motherboard. So there you go. Gigabyte AORUS PRO DDR4 motherboard BIOS updated to F28. 1
