Red Flag Campaign Wingmen Comm

My wingmen don't seem to ever engage anything - air or ground.  I've tried 'Engage Bandits', 'Engage Air Defences', 'Engage Mission and Rejoin' ... you name it.  I never receive a response and they certainly don't ever do anything except follow me around the sky.  What am I doing wrong?

First, make sure you two are on the same frequency. Then, make sure you are using the correct radio PTT button, like the UHF or VHF button. Then, sometimes the AI won't engage targets because nobody spotted any targets yet. Either wait for him to spot targets, or spot them yourself for him (requires visual recon mode option to be enabled)

I don't understand mate - how can I know what frequency they're on?  And I'm talking about using the Comm menu options to give them commands.  Am I supposed to do it a different way?

Is there no documentation coming with the campaign? The frequency might be there. Otherwise it will probably be one of the default ones.

And yes, all I wrote was for the comm menu. There are 3 buttons in the F-16 for that menu. One, the intercom one, is for use on the ground only. The other two, one for the VHF and the other for the UHF radio, can be used for everything, provided you are on the correct frequency.

It's VHF channel 1, comms frequencys are on the last page of the kneeboard for each mission. If you google the campaign there is also a forum post with a couple of very detailed documents about the campaign and every kneeboard for each mission.

I've got all the documentation and frequencies, I'm asking what commands do I need to use to get my flight to actually expend weapons.
