Has Inverted abandoned updating Rising Squall ?

I was enjoying Rising Squall some time back when it released. I decided to get back into playing it and noticed some issues…

(missions bugging out constantly and broken bort numbers on the hornet liveries.)

I really hope Inverted hasn’t abandoned it. Kinda seems like it. It gave me my Ace Combat fill while being DCS.

I was even going to do a playthru on my twitch channel. 
I do hope Inverted fixes the issues currently affecting the campaign 

(I know, I could go into the luas for the hornet liveries and correct em, but I don’t have the patience to do so, when the devs should be the ones correcting such)

Apart from that, did you notice any 'game breaking' bugs in the campaign this time?

I'm thinking about buying it along with Persian Lion as my first DCS campaign but if it's bugged to the point of not being able to complete the missions I won't bother.

Persian Lion is highly worth it.

Well, occasionally with RS missions, some scripted items that move the mission along seem not to always trigger is what I’ve noticed. Aside from that, when it does work, it definitely captures that Ace Combat ‘feel’ to it. 
 

If you want some additional campaign options, definitely take a good look at Baltic Dragon’s Raven One series. BD literally sets the line for what an amazing and properly well done campaign should be, all around. And both Raven One and R1 Dominant Fury really capture that essence. 

Also, if Raven One does catch your eye, definitely take the time to read the book the first campaign is based off of, as well as reading the rest of the Raven One series. Its a well worthy read.

There is a bugged mission in the tutorial (Clothesis). I think the IR counter-measures mission is busted but can be completed via the F10 menu. Last mission in the tutorial also doesn’t want to finish it seems. In the main campaign I got stuck in mission 07, progression bug. I also jumped that one with the F10 menu-> Other option, have yet to proceed with 08. I do not know how buggy other campaigns are, but this one still has quite a few bugs.

Yes, i can confirm Tutorial mission of IR Countermeasures doesnt work, it gets stuck after some SAMs are launched and also the last tutorial mission involving the employment of SLAMs, no matter what you do, you never get more than 50 points score, so mission ends up in Draw.

DCS 2.9.4.53990 released on May, 3rd addressed a lot of the issues mentioned above

Also really appreciated the tutorial missions included with the campaign. They help me a lot, especially as my knowledge of some of the F-18 systems was lacking.

Due to ED modifying the bomb fuse settings of F18, I may need to remake the task script to address this issue. I will complete it as soon as possible.

I recently bought this campaign and it seems pretty much abandoned. I gave up on it after I had almost no missions that worked correctly. 

I had this issues in a lot of missions:

- Triggers not working, so missions can not progress and needed to be skipped

- Aircraft equipped with dull bombs

- Comms not working, so it was not clear what to do

- Constant Scripting error messages

I really like the idea of this campaign, but it just does not work anymore.

Seriously, there should be a Disclaimer at the shop or it should be pulled from the shop entirely. Selling it in this state won't get you happy customers.

I asked for a refund for this broken campaign yesterday but got the "skip the bugged misssion and enjoy the rest" reply.

It happen many time during the mission. I need to press enter to close and return to DCS.

In the mission file CI_00_v2.miz the MIST (Mission Scripting Tools) version is 4.3.74 (Sept 2016). The current version is 4.5.126 (Apr 2024) https://github.com/mrSkortch/MissionScriptingTools/releases/tag/4.5.126 .

They have added "if Object.isExist(val.object) then " before the line "local pos = Object.getPosition(val.object)"

 

Edit : By replacing the file CI_00_v2.miz\l10n\DEFAULT\mist_4_3_74.lua with mist_4_5_126.lua solve the issue...

so is this fixable on the user end? just swap out that lua file? ive been banging my head against the wall with this error

Yes you can fix it yourself:

- Download the lastest MIST file on  https://github.com/mrSkortch/MissionScriptingTools/releases/tag/4.5.126

- In folder"DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\campaigns\Rising Squall", open the mission .miz file with 7zip for example. Go to folder \l10n\DEFAULT\ .

- Replace the file mist_4_3_74.lua with mist_4_5_126.lua

I don't know why the old version of MIST has this error, it has been running normally before. I feel confused, but I will update all scripts to the latest version during the next upgrade.
