no no I don't have. I'm just happy to know that you try to do it realistically, not fantasy :)

There are some textures in the original cockpit that are really blurried, or letters with compression artifacts all around, etc so your work is very nice.

Utterly impressive.

(all imho) However, the new warning lights (nine red lights above the climb/descent dial) do not look anything like their real counterparts, they look fancy and unrealistic.

If you live to fly again, it's a successful landing. The plane being able to fly again is just a bonus.

Chazz,

i´ve got the german DVD version, i don't expect there to be problems with the BS western release. To be sure though, this is going to be released as Beta first. :)

ATM the russian lettering won't look as good as the western, especially true for the warning lights. That's due to having to recycle existing material, as i don't understand russian.

Going to finish/release it this WE.

Hi all,

Status:

it's ready to go Beta within the next couple of hours. :pilotfly:

Note, that this release is for testing purposes only & to get input from the community. If you plan to host the mod on your site, despite it being beta, please add a remark indicating it's not final.

As such it does not come yet with an installer, or as a lma7 package. This means you´ll have to manually copy the files into your BS/Bazar/TempTextures folder. This method may have a slight impact on FPS, or cause microstutters on slower machines /low ram situations. Because of the texture format there are also no mipmaps yet.

Will open an seperate Beta Thread after uploading the files.

Happy Easter, btw. :)

Hi TangoRomeo, I have bought the Russian version of the DCS BS, and the MOD had the cockpit in English, when you install the new cockpit with high resolution only with the light of the panel looked at the labels English, I have taken the liberty of converting each texture to DDS and CDDS squeeze into the cockpit of the Russian and apparently works well if you have your permission to publish a version compatible with modman.

Hi TangoRomeo,

great work on this mod.

if i can give you an advice, don't do the mistake i have done.

For your psd textures you should double size (minimum) the original one.

some of mine now have 4 times the original size.

In the game they have now minimum double size without a fps drop, but now most of my photoshop latest files are 4 times bigger than the ED ones.

i know the time that it takes to make a new cockpit, and when you realise that you have a blur area in game because of the low definition, you can increase the size of the file without a complete rebuild.

cdds builder is a very usefull tool, if you want to increase the size of the files, it alows you to make a HD version for those who have a trackir screwed on the head.

cheers.

If I can make a small suggestion...

The warning lights and annunciator panel lights only appear to shine through the lettering. There should be a tad bit more of a glow over the button/light when the annunciator panel is alluminated. Other than that, outstanding! Honestly I dont care how the buttons/light look, but thats my suggestion for some added realism.

Hi Devas,

of course, please go ahead!

To anyone wanting to modify, or build your own based on the set - you don't need to ask for permission - just do it.

Hi Guys,

First off excellent add on well done. Just one small question I notice that the right side panel markings have got a slight night glow to them when the cockpit lights are turned off and glow well when turned on. Now I had a look at the two files and noticed that the day file is the same as the night file, is there any chance that the day panel shows white and then goes to the nice night glow when the lights are switch on? Timm

Thanks Ricardo,

but wouldn't that be somewhat overkill - i mean it's about 4x stock filesize if doubling the res. With a total of 52 textures that's quite a chunk for systems that do not have large amounts of RAM/VRAM installed ?

I got some good results with applying the unsharp mask filter on some panel parts. Anisotropic filtering and FSAA is also a must in this game.

Hi,

among other things i´m currently reworking the warning lights. Having just the letters with a slight glow lit up was a decision for better readability. Some proposed removing the glow altogether to make the lettering stand out even more.

Hi Timm,

there should be 2 different files for panel lettering, the unlit one should look like this:

Guess something happened while converting it to .cdds, will get fixed in final.

I agree that the blurry glow should go! ;o) All in can say is that in all the aicrafts I've been into, mostly western, the lights are glowing but are not blurry. They are very sharp and crisp, easily readable. I think (don't quote me on this) that eastern aircrafts are also pretty much the same. I have been on IL-76 and AN-124 (not Kamov AC I know) and for what I can recall, they are the same.

This is just my 2 cents, and I also want to say that you have done an outstanding job with the pit.

Hi again :smilewink:

I leave here to download a version of Sharkpit for the Russian version of the DCS BS (modman compatible), leaving labels and text in English.

We tested with several pilots ECV56, and appears to have no error in the texture to be embedded directly into the CDDS of the cockpit of the Russian version.

Enjoy:book:
