Hm, I´m on v62, PTC is off but it still crashes (non-Steam). Any suggestions how to fix this issue?

Had you done the steps to prevent updating?  Having PTC off only worked until a few days ago when V63 was pushed as their release version, so if you hadn't already taken active steps (beyond not opting into PTC)  to prevent updating you're likely on V63 and have it's issues now.

I purchased Virtual Desktop in the oculus store to run DCS.

I wonder how many people will be contributing to Oculus profits now by resorting this solution?  Well played Oculus.  If I were DCS I would push for the solution as soon as possible to limit their benefits of screwing up.

My Oculus Rift S came with a virtual desktop.  Is the one for purchase different and can solve the V63 issue?  Do I just see the 2D desktop of DCS projected in the headset, or does it put me actually back in the cockpit and able to move the view around with my head movement and not fingers on a keyboard or joystick hat switch moving the 2d view around?   If I buy something from Oculus and it doesn't solve the problem I will loose my sh&t with them.

Turning off PTC does not fix the issue for me. I never had PTC on, and am still running V62. Constantly crashing at splash screen. This only happened after last DCS update. Any solutions for this please? (Non steam version).

Edit: Headset is running V62. App on PC is running V63 (auto pushed). It would seem that ED need to do an adjustment for OpenXR, but aren't going to release a hot fix for it. So stuck without DCS until next major update. Not good enough, ED....

This is a different virtual desktop. It only works with WiFi enabled headsets such as Q2, Q3, QP and Pico 4. I don't think there is any workaround for rift s other than reverting back to v62 or waiting for the patch.

Just fired up my rift s I have no problems so does this affect all ? I am on 63

Don't touch a thing then! lol.  I completely deleted my Rift S Oculus but on re-install it downloads V63.  Still does not run.  Maybe your subversion is slightly different?  Anyway, enjoy the emersion experience.  I tried a Gulf Free flight today in 2D and it sucked!  I am spoiled by VR.

I just started getting this today too.  It had been at least a week since I played DCS or opened Meta Quest software, and I think it did an update 8 days ago.

Program always crashes on startup, shows the Nvidia splash screen, then DCS splash screen, then crashes.

I'm on Oculus v62 with blocked updates but DCS will still not launch in VR. I get as far as it rendering the first frame of my FA-18 sitting in the hangar and then crashes. I tried a fresh install of DCS after removing my Save Games folder. No change. So the issue is bigger than just Oculus v63.

Kind of frustrating.

Hey guys,

Weirdest thing.  I get the crash when I try to launch DCS from Quest link while wearing the Quest 2.  If I take the Quest 2 off, Start DCS from my desktop, let the splash screen run until it's over (about 10 seconds)  I then see DCS in my taskbar signifying that it's running.  I put my Quest 2 on...and DCS is running in the headset.  Go from there.  None of these other fixes has worked for me.  This is EXTREMELY frustrating after the amount of money I'm sure a lot of people have invested in these systems that can run this well, I know I did.  Anyway, this workaround worked for me.  I hope it helps others.  Figured this out completely by accident.  Cheers.

Meta software has always been temperamental. It can work one day then suddenly doesn't. Have you tried using virtual desktop instead?

Within Quest link there is an option to view your desktop monitors and I can click on the icon on the desktop from that.  I also have the virtual desktop app, but so far this is working well enough.  Yeah, it's always something with DCS and all the other elements that make up this eco-system.  Right now I'm able to play, so happy about that.

Off topic: Hey, I'd like to start playing some multiplayer in the F-16.  I've been playing DCS for years on and off-just enough to forget a lot in-between play sessions (ha!).  Is there a multiplayer server you would recommend for getting the basics down?
