CBU 97

Hey to all

I try to drop CBU 97 bombs with the use of LANTIRN pod. Sometimes thw bombs hit the target while some other not. I tried both lasing before and after release with the same outcome. Bombs don't hit into the target all the times in contradiction with GBU which have 100% success with the TGP.

Anu idea?

What's the wind in the mission? Do the bomblets perhaps drift too far away while they are hanging on their parachutes?

@razo+r I do not remember. Perhaps there is 9 - 10 knots north wind. I have noticed that the bar in order to pickle comes down very slowly, and meets the FPM when I am exactly above the target if that make any sense.

That sounds like there was a rather strong wind that blew the submunition away. But we will only know for sure if you retry or have a track for us.

The late release is simply due to the bomb unit's relatively high drag.  The CBU-97 submunitions are very affected by wind
