BenPR1 Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 It is very annoying for me, esp coming from f16 and f18.
SMH Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 Seems to be a real-world thing that's "painted on" and so can't be disabled. (I assume it has something to do with providing a good reflection of greyscale FLIR sensors.) I do think they've got it a bit too opaque though. Can we access the cockpit skin textures or are they protected in this module? null 1
razo+r Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 You should be able to access the texture to edit the tint to your liking. 1
razo+r Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 Go to \DCS World\Mods\Aircraft\F-15E And find the glass textures. It is either in \cockpit\textures or just in \textures depending on what structure RB is using. Then just find the correct glass texture (trial and error) and then edit out the purple tint with Photoshop, Gimp or something else. 2

There'll likely be an alpha-channel that describes the transparency of the tinted area. You wouldn't edit the purple out (well you could but there'd still be SOME color there that you replaced it with) but rather the alpha-channel.
Bigity Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 It's going to be toned down some, it is supposed to be pinkish a little but Metal2Mesh has posted that it was overdone a bit. 1
Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 It took ED some time too to get the F-18's HUD tint dialled in Patience, young Padawan. The actual reason, is the coating on the glass is designed to reflect only the wavelength of the HUD projector (green) at the exact view angle and maximize transmission. This causes the transmission to be slightly tinted by the opposite color (purple) and this is an angle dependent effect. 3
