Wanted to know if getting the cams/spring/damper kit was worth it. Also what is the benefits if any of putting the cams, springs, and dampers on all four sides as the base comes with them on just two sides?

Springs and cams are on 2 sides (X and Y) The dampers go on the other 2 sides. I use both for fixed wing in one base and just use dampers on another base for rotary wing

It does help with some of the finer movements needed for things like aar and even landings on some airframes. The default springs can feel a little sloppy in the middle especially, so using the heavier gauge springs can tighten that up quite a bit. You can also play with the cams to adjust the feel of the 'return to center' motion, which will affect the feel as you move away from and back to the center. The dampers adjust the tension of the stick. You can make it super loose or make it tight to the point that it won't return to center unless you move it to center. This mode is pretty nice for flying rotary wing airframes (helicopters), but it is not great for fixed wing.

I would say it's only worth it if you want to run a springless stick for helicopters, for which you need the dampers. Otherwise, the dampers add a desirable feeling for fixed wing, but are probably not worth getting just for this. As for other cams and springs, I personally have tried them out, but returned to the default cams and medium springs. If you use an extension, you might benefit from heavy springs or even double cams/springs.

If you have the extension it is worth at least trying the setup with double cams and springs.  That is my current setup today.  I usually change things up every few months just because I can.

Can anybody comment further on using a Winwing Orion2 stick for rotary aircraft??? I have a TM Warthog for most my fixed wing but see some advantages of being able to easily pull the springs & cams from my Winwing for use with UH-1, CH-47, and UH-60. I have the kits but not sure of a proper setup

Anyone have any experience with this plan and recommendations to implement? Appreciate comments

This is the way. With an extension you can’t tell where the zero point is and I don’t want to use the soft center detent cams.

doubling up the cams gives a strong centering force without the clunk of a detent.

I do this every once and a while. Super easy to do as it's a total of 8 Allen Screws. Four for the base and two smaller ones for the cams. I have my dampers set to what I need for Helo ops, which also work great when the cams are in. Do get the recommended Damping grease.

I put 2x mid springs paired with no center/linear force cams and added 2x soft springs no center/ progressive force cams. It feels just right with the extension. Two strongers springs were too much.
