Tomcatter87 Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 (edited) I think that one's been around for a while: In cold start missions, Jester does not complete his startup sequence. He forgets the following things: - Arm ejection seat - uncage standby attitude indicator - turn on servopneumatic altimeter. I think this should not be too complicated to fix, but it would be much appreciated since it's quite annoying to switch to the back seat and have to do this stuff. RustBelt Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 That’s because he doesn’t need them. Presumably when he flakes out on you during low speed maneuvering he arms the seat as he’s ejecting.

RustBelt Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 No, a real person needs them, Jester is part of the game. He knows things without looking at gauges. Otherwise he would set them up correctly.

RustBelt Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 It’s not a real person. No more than any AI pilot. They don’t run on the same rules as the player interface. So omissions like this only come up when you hot swap with it because it never needs those switches to function properly.

Jester acts like a real RIO, he operates his cockpit, talks to us and reacts to our requests or on his own, he can get incapacitated or killed. He's even specifically given a personality. So yes, he does need to operate these switches, because he's a simulated person, a RIO, in DCS. 3 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Tomcatter87 Posted April 12, 2024 Author Posted April 12, 2024 He also turns on oxygen, lights and propably other stuff a computer wouldn't "need". Plus the F-14 module is built in a way that you can switch seats in-flight, so it is kinda important that Jester completes his startup procedure. 2 "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward.
