Keith Briscoe Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Do I understand correctly that if I were to buy a pre-built C today, it would come with win11 and almost certainly be updated to the point that there is no WMR? Then, only option to use g2 would be to do a clean install of win10... but then risk hardware issues that may want/expect to see win11? Thanks for any input.
Phantom711 Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Win10 will remain supported by MS until Oct 2025. I don‘t think you will run into hardware issues with Win10 really. vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord.
Chief_Biv Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 WMR will be removed from Windows 11 if you allow your PC to upgrade to the 24H2 version of Windows 11 later this year. You will need to put a stop to this particular upgrade (just like me). If you buy a PC now it should still come with WMR. 1 PC Hardware: i9-12900k, RTX 3080 10GB, 32GB DDR5 4400MHz, NVME.2 Drives, Alienware 38" 3840x1600 144MHz Monitor, TrackIR Pro Clip, Pimax Crystal Flight Controls: Winwing Orion 1 FA-18 Stick and Throttle HOTAS / Logitech Rudder Pedals DCS Modules: Too many to list after the 15 year sale
Keith Briscoe Posted April 7, 2024 Author Posted April 7, 2024 Ok, thx. Looks like 24h2 is expected in Sept-ish... I really wonder if somewhere, someone is developing a work-around for the G2 install base of users...
firefox121 Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 (edited) I downloaded the install packages for wmr and wmr tools, just in case of being removed from store. Hope that I could install the packager after the upgrade.
