Why is that. Drive me insane. Allways same setting.Using Affinity tool. I have Trackir. X52 pro. Evga X58 i7 520 (oc 4.00Ghz) 2x GTX 280. 6 GB corsair 1600. PCU corsair 1000. X-Fi extr. music.

Which affinity tool are you using and have you confirmed that it applies the affinity the second time? When you start the first mission, you are switching executable and affinity is applied to it. When the mission is then completed that executable quits and you go back to the launcher.exe. When you start another mission afterwards you once again switch executable, and if the affinity tool you are using doesn't spot that (or gets shut down after the first time for whatever reason), then you won't be having affinity set for the second mission.

It not mattering if you have different missions and it occuring on the second launch of the simulation executable would lead me to think that this is your biggest suspect. Try to see if it happens with another affinity tool.

Try DCSMax and see if the problem occurs there too.

Actually, before that:

Try flying WITHOUT the affinity tool. I would almost best money on you getting the lower numbers you observe on the second mission consistently then, and that would be a pretty good implication that for whatever reason your tool isn't applying affinity on the second mission.

What FPS should I be expecting on these specs:

3.2GHz P4 Northwood Hyperthread

2GB PC3200 Dual Channel

Sapphire X1950 PRO 512MB on Catalyst 8.12 w/dedicated VGA PSU

Western Digital 640GB SE16 running on SATA1.5 (old mobo ASUS P4C800E-DLX)

Enermax 500w 80+ PSU

Win XP SP3

Running BS @ 1680x1050 or less, settings on low, med, or high, I get around 20FPS or lower. But the difference between low and high is like 1FPS. During explosions, 5 FPS

I am a far way from an expert on ATI cards, and I haven't been able to find anything other than Gtexel throughput on it. It would appear to be a contemporary of nVidia cards that I do know, though, and that I definitely would say are on the weak end. The low variability of your FPS indicates that the GPU is not the weak link though, except possibly during some effects.

The Northwood at 3.2 is slightly on the weak end as well and the non-variability of FPS depending on graphics settings indicate that your processor is definitely the weak link (usually is on DCS - on my Intel E8500, overclocked to 4GHz, it's still the CPU that's the weak link, though the RAM might be dragging my system down a bit too). PC3200 RAM is also on the slow side.

So, in the end, I think the FPS you are reporting are "about right" for that system.

You will definitely have to upgrade or replace that machine at some point quite shortly though, so start saving up. If you want help on building a cheap replacement system you can PM me or open a thread in the Hardware forum.

Your bottleneck is your cpu/mobo more than your GPU. I had a similiar setup with a P4 3.0 and a 3850 agp card with 2 gig and I had to turn everything down to low just to fly. Even if you set your resolution lower you would get the same FPS. I ended up upgrading.

If not already try turning off\on HT ( Hyperthread ) in the bios some games don't like it were some do.
