Hi everybody!

I've been messing around with the Tiger for  bit more than a month. and definitly its not my thing! xD. I can take off not too bad, im landing one out of three times but i dont know how to turn properly and how to keep speed. Anyway i will keep trying! lol I'll appreciate any tip or advice to improve my flying, and even some easy mission to practice stuff.

On top of that, i'm using AItrack plus opentrack and probably i couldnt set it properly. I found some "already done" settings for DCS online, and it gets bit better, but still gets crazy when zooming and when looking fast for a bandit. Just one question on this... Will i notice any improvement if i go for the Trackir ? Is it worthy to pay that kind of money ?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Yes, TiR is the way to go. Never used "Altrack", but did use the freeware "freetrack NoIR" and couldn't get it to work at all. It took me awhile to get used to how often my head bobs around and twitches...and of course that shows up with any head tracking method. Keep your head steady with slow movements, and practice using your eyes more than moving your head.

Re: turning.....a normal turn involves a 30^ bank, a lot of new-to-flight-sims people tend to put the plane on its wingtip and pull hard....that's a skill for later (and it usually involves full throttle LOL). Enter the turn at 350 IAS, roll to 30 degrees and use the rudder and pull a little back on the stick. Keep your hand on the throttle so you can gently adjust the power as needed, and use the rudder to keep the nose aligned with the horizon. It is an acquired skill to do a "coordinated turn", and there are videos on YouTube from both civilian instructors and the USN from WW2 that give really good visual instructions.

That's one of my concerns... may be i need to get used to the thing before i'm buying the trackir ? Did you notice any change in that respect ?

Thank you for the tips and vids!! I've been trying today that barrel roll....without any luck yet! lol

Before I got Track IR, I couldn't get the other tracking system to work at all. I was using the mouse to look around.

The only way to get used to it is actually use it...for me, it was just a matter of keeping my head still, and only making minimal movements. Especially if you turn your head fast, everything becomes impossible to see and it's easy to get disoriented. Look with your eyes (that doesn't change the view on the screen), and if necessary, turn your head smoothly and slowly (not like molasses slow, it should take 1-2 seconds to turn your head about 30^ (as if you're looking at the outer monitors of a 3 screen setup. That far should be enough to adjust the viewing angle so you can see behind you.)

Hey Bucic! Thank you for all that info. Some very good stuff there!... but to be fair im more focused now in the bloody tracking, that is driving me crazy. i tried to make my own profile but apparently im doing something really wrong... im desperate!  I can see some lads using AItrack with good results, but the only think i get is air sickness xD!

Thank you again for your  "Waiting for update - cockpit - get the most out of the current one"  post, my cockpit looks very nice now!

Cheers!

TrackIR is certainly the best head tracking device. I have never tried anything else but I get the impression that the other options require a lot of setup and fiddling with them. TrackIR works right out of the box with no need for messing around with complex settings (the included “Smooth” profile is what you’ll want for games like this). For someone new to sims like this that’s a real plus.

Tracking setup... Well, the zero phase is getting the geometries correctly entered in the tracking software if you're using a DIY solution. If not, phase 1. I'm NOT savvy enough to give tips on that subject but I  poked someone today, who certainly is. See the comments under this video.

Regarding to the headtracking i´m for sure getting the trackir but, after a lot of searching on the net i found this guy, and with his profile i can manage now waaay better than ever before.

By the way! Very glad to hear about the new improvements on the module!!!!

I have a Delanclip with a PS3 cam, and it works very well after I tuned the curves heavily and set some deadzones. I could post my settings if you want. That said, I am under the impression that TrackIR has the best software, even if I've never used it.

Cheers!
