No mods installed (that I'm aware of).

Every single time I've opened a mission in the ME, it's just been a matter of time when the program will crash.

Log files attached.

hello. i believe you are having terrain shader issues. i suggest renaming the DCS folder in Saved Games to DCS.BAK. then rerun DCS to let the folder be recreated. also you need to be patient and let the shaders compile. it may take awhile. also add exceptions to your AV software. i run defender and these are the folders i exclude from scanning.

No-go. Waited about 5 minutes or more before starting into the editor. Crashed pretty soon after I opened a map.

Have you run a mission on that map recently?  I had the editor causing issues yesterday. I ran a quick start mission from the main menu, then I was able to load into the editor. It’s like the map wasn’t able to load from the editor without having previously run.

No, this is a new map created from another one, just adjusting time of day and unit composition, etc.

I think you misunderstand me. Try playing any mission on whichever map it is (eg. Caucuses), just enough so that it has to load the textures. Then after a few minutes of that, then try and edit or create a mission on the same map. For me that worked seemingly because the textures had to be “created” by running a mission.

Ah, I see. Unfortunatlely, the PC in question is used for editing only, and has no controllers to do what you're saying.

You don’t need to actually do anything in the mission. Just do a cold start mission and let it sit on the ground for a few minutes unpaused.

Crashed while doing this. Didn't even generate a log file lol.

Wow. Something is definitely wrong either with your installation or hardware then. Beyond my ability. Good luck.

hello again

in the latest log there is a line

2024-04-18 13:31:58.721 ALERT   DX11BACKEND (8864): Error: Can't find precompiled shader for effect animator/gpu_animated_model.fx:DIRECTX11=true;MAX_ANIMATIONS_STACK_SIZE=100;MAX_ARGUMENTS_SIZE=3;NUM_NODES=77;USE_DCS_DEFERRED=1;.

this is still a shader issue. whether it is the cause, that is still to be told. when you renamed the saved games dcs folder, this should have recompiled everything. the latest log does indicate it.

also see these type of messages

Recompilation process will take some time, please wait
(this situation should not occur on end user PC, if there is no manual shader editing)

Just did some rudimentary editing after updating the driver with an update that just recently appeared in my Geforce app. Also changed some graphics settings that didn't need to be high and reduced the initial environment by half.

I guess so. Haven't had a crash since doing this, but it seems like I should not have had to do anything.

I stand corrected. This issue remains.

I have cleared the shader cache, formatted the DCS drive and done a clean reinstall. No mods.

Had one day of editing for about 2 hours with no crashing. Since that one time, I have not been able to have an editing session without crashing.

UPDATE

Just over the past weekend I had to disconnect one of my SSDs because of constant boot errors after coming out of POST. Additionally, the GPU was plugged into the wrong power slot in the PSU. After disconnecting the drive, plugging the graphics card into the correct PSU slot, and deleting and reinstalling DCS, I have had no problems in the editor.
