jackdaw Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 I had an X56 hotas from brand new it was sloopy around the center even with a dead zone of 8 half the time the AP would not engage, spent more money on a vkb evo space edition the problem hardly ever happens, don't use any deadzone or curve now. With the A10c11 the X56 was not as much of a problem so long as you were in pitch limits the barro alt would hold, can't remember exact limit +/-3 degrees?

And this "afterwards" can mean seconds, if you are deflecting the stick just 0.5%. This should be looked at with priority, imho. No I don't or if it occurs it's rare enough that I haven't noticed it.

Do you have the hand on the stick when you press the UFC button to engage BALT or do you use the mouse with your right hand while the stick centers itself and stays there? (Assuming you are right handed)
rob10 Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 Hand on stick. I have WinWing MIP so left hand presses A/P then BALT.

Again: This happens without another press of the BALT button on the UFC. So as a workaround I recommend to move the stick in the pitch axis as soon as you hear the warning tone (that is heard after a non engaging BALT mode after BALT-button-press) until the BALT mode engages. Btw. If your stick is uncentered in the x-axis, there is no problem at all with the BALT mode. You can even deflect the stick quite a bit to the side, as long as your pitch is centered to engage BALT. @Tom Kazansky Just wanted to say Thank You for this info. Absolutely works for me . I just finished building a new gaming PC and have a fresh, non-modded install of DCSW & Hornet and this was driving me crazy over the weekend. I never had the issue on my old gaming rig, and I thought I had missed some updated procedure for INS align or something... Since I don't see this on any other DCSW module I have, I'm hoping ED can add Tolerance for Hornet AP similar to the other Modules. 1

You shouldn't notice it and it should allow you to arm the A/P.

I disagree. Try air2air refuelling before and after adding a larger deadzone. There is a difference I don't like. The better solution should come from ED. If they made this tiny zone that allows engagement of the AP just a bit bigger, no one would notice but those who suffer from this implementation. @UrgentSiesta glad the work around works for you. 1
