revalence Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Very nice Mvgas, Topol! Gosh... Been awhile since I saw the Eagle so beautiful! :)
mvsgas Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 How many nations still fly the F-4? Japan, R.O.K., Iran, Israel, Greece, who els? To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

Sawamura Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) JASDF Airbase Matsushima after the Tsunami. According to the Japanese Defence Ministry, seawater from the tsunami has damaged 28 aircraft, including 18 Mitsubishi F-2 fighters of the JASDF's 21st Hikotai. A number of the damaged aircraft are expected to be total writeoffs. Matsushima is also home to The Blue Impulse aerobatics team of the JASDF's 11th Hikotai, which were fortunately not at the base at the time, along with UH-60J helicopters and U-125s of the Matsushima Kyunantai (Air Rescue Squadron). revalence Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I am speechless in horror... Hasn't the tsunami has created enough devastation? That is... extremely terrible. I must continue to keep the Japanese people in my prayers. Thanks for the update Sawamura.
mikoyan Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 We can help by making donations to the red cross; it is only 10 dollars here in the US. About those f-2; they don't look total to me; why can't they fix them? that black hawk could have saved a lot of people; very sad to see it there useless.
Pilotasso Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 (edited) About those f-2; they don't look total to me; why can't they fix them? Corrosion and impact cracks and deformation. It would be impossible to dissemble every little bit of the aircraft's airframe to fix it. Complex electronics like the radar are gone. However engine parts and accessories and other components can be individually overhauled separately and put on the spares pool for other planes, while the structure is scraped. Cali Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Some of those paint schemes are cool, but others are just down right hideous. Why so many different ones? i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Pilotasso Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 They used to paint pottery, when it was state of the art of civilization. Today they paint jet fighters! :D .
topol-m Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Some of those paint schemes are cool, but others are just down right hideous. Why so many different ones? I don`t know the history behind all the paint schemes, I just enjoy them :P They are not very common though, except for the Aggressor squadron and the anniversary ones the rest are just dull gray. Sawamura Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Google maps updated their databse. Now the after tsunami maps are there. JASDF Matsushima Airbase
Sawamura Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 The Japanese news Sankai report, that the JASDF starts to reconstruct/repair 17 F-2 fighter jets on Matsushima Airbase. Also the runways are cleant and ready to be used again(like you can see on the updated google earth maps, where an C-2 transporter takes off on runway 25). As for the Blue Impulse, i havent seen any photos from the inside of their hangar, nor from their only remaining Kawaski T-2 in Blue Inpulse colors.
topol-m Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 That`s some good news. Thanks Sawamura. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
