Smyth Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 This one is pretty simple. Load any aircraft currently in game (2.9.55300) that can carry Aim-7E and Aim-7F with 4x of one version, then switch to the other. Gross weight does not change by more than a few pounds. After further investigation, all Aim-7 in DCS currently weigh 230-231kg = 510lb, which is correct for the -7F and later versions (many sources including SMC). However -7E2/3 should weigh 425lb = 194kg (varies only slightly depending on source), and the original -7E was 455lb due to slightly larger fins. 2 More or less equal than others
Flappie Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 (edited) @Smyth I found an unclassified document stating the -7E-2 weighs 427 lbs. No matter here. However, sources do not agree about the AIM-7E weight. Some say 435 lbs, others 452 lbs. Do you have some good Rule 1.16-compatible source, please? https://weaponsystems.net/system/941-AIM-7%20Sparrow : 435 lbs http://www.designation-systems.net/dusrm/m-7.html : 435 lbs http://www.astronautix.com/s/sparrowaim-7e.html : 451 lbs https://aviationsmilitaires.net/v3/kb/externalload/show/191/aim-7-sparrow#tab:tab-versions : 452 lbs Edited May 24, 2024 by Flappie ---

Here is a page from the F-4D Standard Aircraft Characteristics dated 1973, old enough to give both versions. I scanned this myself at a museum in the US and it is completely unclassified. E2 is 435lb here (as I mentioned it varies) E is 455lb D is 402lb The exact same page is copied in the F-4E SAC, but the F-4D copy was in better condition. Yes, that's what I thought but I had no document showing the weight for both missiles. Thank you very much! Edited May 25, 2024 by Flappie ---
Smyth Posted July 29, 2024 Author Posted July 29, 2024 Oddly enough this appears to have been fixed in the last major patch for ED aircraft, but not the F4E. However I'm not sure if that needs to be reported here or as an F4 bug. More or less equal than others
