Hey guys!

I never managed to finish training mission n. 2, I can get to the point were the chief remove the wheel chokes, but after that pressing the spacebar doesn't work anymore and the mission get stuck.

I unbinded the space bar in the F-4E controls, but it didn't work, the mission won't progress past the point where the chokes are removed.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Does anyone know how to solve it?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hey Gianky!

I flew this lesson a few times, I quickly jump in here and try to help. I have two questions:

1. Did you verify that the chocks have been removed, maybe using F2 view?

2. Did you see this text on screen?
"OK, now go through the "BEFORE TAXI PROCEDURE" CHECKLIST on your own to make sure all the bold items were done."

Hey @TOViper,

first of all, thank you for your input.

Secondly, yes, I verified that chokes were removed and the crew chief confirmed it. And yes, I saw that message, the mission get stuck right after that, when the humvee in front of the jet disappear.

To be clear, when I say the mission get stuck, I mean that pressing the spacebar doesn't advance the tutorial, everything else works, I can use the jet, just not training.

Ok, then most probably your slats/flaps switch was not set to position "OUT & DOWN", but only to "OUT".
This makes the slats go "OUT" and the flaps "DOWN", and so most people think all is good if they only check the indications, but forget about the switch.
But: The slats/flaps switch MUST be set to position "OUT & DOWN" in order to continue with the lesson.

Some users use wrong key bindings or just move the switch one step down. Carefully check your bindings here to make sure the aircraft does what you expect it to do.

Note: on ground the slats/flaps switch position "OUT" makes the slats to go "OUT" and additionally the flaps go "DOWN"; in flight they behave a little different.

Find more on the slats/flaps lever here: https://f4.manuals.heatblur.se/cockpit/pilot/left_console/wall.html#slatsflaps-control-panel

Edit: it might be the case that you accidentially set something else to a wrong position (despite this is checked duringe the procedure); in this case: carefully go through all BOLD items once more. This is why a CHECKLIST is used before moving on own power; it is important that nothing is left open and none of the systems is in an unsafe condition.

Hope you find it phinally working then ... if not, please come back here once more, I will monitor this thread carefully for the next few days.

Kind regards,

In the taxi training mission, I have rudder pedals and I had to invert them for the pedals to fully depress.  When I did so according to the instructions and pressed the space bar, nothing happened.  I also set a button for the pedals and pressed it and still nothing happened.  Very frustrating.

Hey @TOViper, thank you for your inputs!

I tried the mission again yesterday for a couple of times and it worked as intended. I probably had some control not in the right position, even though I was convinced that everything was set correctly.

I'll keep you posted in case anything goes wrong again (and I'll make sure to do everything Vulture says, before posting!)

@IronMike: Can you make a new thread out of that please? The other stuff is resolved, so this posting would be lost otherwise. Thanks!
