Rango Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Hi Phlyers, I tried to figure out how to use this selfie mode to take a close distance photo of the pilot. I managed to activate the mode and to mpve camera position but was unable to turn around the camera and take a photo looking towards the camera position. I fly with TrackIR and the only way to turn the camera direction is to turn your head. But then I just see the pilot looking over his shoulder (head turned due to TrackIR input) and not into the camera. Hm, how to setup correctly? Any ideas from other TrackIR users? Thanks in advance! Uwe
LizardKingYB Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Hi! I checked it. You need to adjust It stops head movement.
Rango Posted May 27, 2024 Author Posted May 27, 2024 Thanks for the response, LizardKingYB. If I do this input action my pilot body stops moving. So far so good. But additionally the pilot slumps down into the straps of the seat with torso moving forward and sits like looking down to his feet all the time. So no way to take a photo. Hm, seems this selfie mode is still not working properly at my side. Any new idea?
Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 (edited) +1, I can't figure out how this camera works. When i enable it, I cant freely move on the cockpit any more than a few inches forward (cant put the camera over the dash) and I cant turn back enough to see the pilot completely independently of the pilot movement. Quite odd. Edited May 28, 2024 by Ala12Rv-watermanpc 1 Take a look at my MODS here
Zabuzard Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Could have been introducing by restricting body movement to disallow people moving their virtual head over into the other pit, outside of the jet and other unreasonable things. We will see if we can perhaps lift that restriction during selfie mode 1 1
Rango Posted May 31, 2024 Author Posted May 31, 2024 (edited) In the end I figured out how the selfie mode works. The idea is really good and a very nice new feature. But the possible maximum distance from camera position to pilot head is way to close to take a suitable photo of the pilot. Therefore enlargement of selfie mode distance is really appreciated. Additional info for Zabuzard: I found a little bug in the selfie mode handling. If pilot as well as WSO wear their sunglasses and then selfie mode for pilot is activated, the WSO takes off his sunglasses 'automatically'. May be this could be fixed together with camera distance change. Edited May 31, 2024 by Rango
Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 I would like to add that it seems like it wont work in the replay mode, at least as far as I can tell, which doesnt makes sense to me. I would love to use it in the replay mode. thanks! Take a look at my MODS here
RubberDogSh1tOutOfHKG Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 I tried it in VR, just toggled it on and off. Didn't see any change to standard view. I'm probably doing something wrong
Zabuzard Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 It enables the full-body character including the head. Normally, the "pilot model", if displayed, has no head.Once activated, you can move your camera with the standard DCS camera controls for some nice screenshot (see our manual on that topic for the controls). That said, there is a minor issue that the camera bounds are still quite tight (to disallow people moving their head outside of the aircraft for example) 1

PS: Does the Tape Player only accept .wav files? Or will it accept .mp3 and other file types. And will the folder work with a Symbolic Link folder (to my music files)It accepts whatever DCS accepts for sounds. Which, I believe is wav and ogg.Note that you must not forget to also create the sdef files for each sound. No, you can not create links. It only iterates any regular file in the directory, it does not follow links. 1
Nealius Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 No plans to make it functioning in replay tracks?
Zabuzard Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 Would need DCS changes. You cant input anything during replay unless you click "Take Control". A possibility would be to introduce some form of HB UI with "replay controls" that you can mouse-click. Since interacting with our UI is something DCS still allows during replay without taking control. 1
Nealius Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 What about the method that ED implemented on the Viper and Hornet, where the pilot body head pops into existence when the camera is moved sufficiently far away from it, with player head movements preserved? It works well in those modules while staying inside F1 view. 1
Zabuzard Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 I personally havent heard of that yet. Sounds like something we can have a look at, thanks. 2
