I'm sure I'm being an absolute numb skull, but how the heck do I jettison just the wing tanks?

No need to put weapon selector to C. As a matter of fact, weapon selector can be on any position, it doesn't matter.

What matters is station selector on Stores, arming pylons you want to drop (in our case Left and Right outer pylons, so LO and RO) and press Push to jet button. Thats it!

You're right, but if weapon selector is in position which matches ordnance type on that station, you can accidentally drop tanks plus ordnance, so it's better to put weapon selector to C (off) position. Again, if you want to jettison just the wing tanks like author mentioned before

If you specificly and consciously select outter pylons, then you will only drop whats on those 2 pylons, and nothing else. And btw, on weapon selector "C" does not mean "off", but in current emplementation of F-4E is not in use.

Example. I have outboard stations with AGM-65, wing tanks are about empty. I do not want to drop whats on those 2 pylons

As already mentioned, jettison dial to "stores" and hit the jettison key.

Personally I have the Jettison Stores bound to a button, along with the jettison.  Works a treat.

So you do not drop Maveriks together with tanks if weapon selector is in TV position?

This isn't entirely true, it also takes into account what the weapon selector is set to.  At least for TV weapons it does, haven't tried other munitions.  For example: you have a centerline drop tank, mavs on inboard pylons, HOBOS on outboard pylons, weapon selector to TV and only the centerline station selected.  If you hit the jettison button, it will eject both the centerline drop tank (because the station was selected) and your mavs and HOBOS (because the weapon selector is set to TV).

I have no idea if this is correct procedure for the real bird, but that is how it is currently implemented in DCS.

The TV thing dropping MAVs is a bug, fixed with next patch.

You are supposed to just select the stations to drop on the buttons, then go STORES and hit the jettison button. Straightforward :)

I can jettison stores from the panel, but can't seem to get buttons bound to do the trick with a VKB STECS Mini.   Would really appreciate seeing your button bindings.

Not sure what the confusion is about. The process is to turn the Jettison Selector Knob down to STORES, then "select" the station you want to drop by clicking their respective station arm button-lamps.
Now, click on the Jettison Button that is on top of the Selector Knob.

All of those actions can be bound.

Thank you - let me repeat, I can do this from the panel, exactly as you've described.   It works without any problem and there is no confusion.

My question is what are the exact buttons to be bound to make this happen.   I've got Select to Stores bound, the "jettison" bound.  When pressing Jettison, nothing happens via STECS buttons.

Perhaps you can share screenshots or the exact and full name of the binds you are using.
It works on my end

null Found it.   I was using the white rotary button on the right side of the STECS.   When I use a non-rotary button, the jettison works.

Thanks!
