AoS_Nexus Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 Hello everyone, i'm trying to host a DCS Dedicated Server on my computer but no one can see my server. I do see it (two times, with my local IPs), but my friends don't. This post is my last resort, i tried to read a lot of forum threads, watch tutorials and learn from friends but nothing works. My network setup is : My PC > RJ45 cat.8 cable > TP-Link Archer MR400 router (4G LTE mode) with 89% signal. Port triggering (10308) is ON, DMZ is ON, but "canyouseeme" don't.. see me. I call for your help and i'm a patient man. 74DELTA Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 on most SOHO/Home routers, if you setup a DMZ it's not going to work. simply turn on port forwarding for TCP/UDP port 10308 to your internal (RFC 1918) address such as 192.168.x.x/10.x.x.x hosting your DCS server and you should be golden. And no disrespect, and don't take this the wrong way but in my experiences with getting this to work through a TPLink router is problematic at best. May I suggest an ASUS edge router. Take that for what it's worth though, we all have our thing.
AoS_Nexus Posted June 4, 2024 Author Posted June 4, 2024 Hi 74DELTA, I found no disrespect in your reply don't worry. I bought this one because it was cheap and i don't have the optic fiber anymore at home so i was forced to buy something fast. I can't afford an Asus router for the moment. To be precise, i live in France and i had a choice between classic ADSL (phone cable, low grade connexion) and 4G. I tried to turn OFF the DMZ and just trigger the 10308 with no positive result anyway.. that's why i'm lost and i don't get it. Before invest money in a new router, you have to verify with your ISP if you're behind a NAT, that is a common setup for mobile connectivity. My NAT is ON in my TP-Link settings but when i check online it says "unknown error", do you see why i ask for help? I would have fixed this enigma alone if i could but beside headaches i got no result what so ever. Again, check with your ISP, because most of the mobile operator DO NOT provide a public IP address, so despite your settings, firewall rules, or even 600€ investment on new modem that you can buy for that SIM card, you'll never be visibile from outside, and that is a NAT network. You need to call your ISP and ask if you have a public IP address or not. I bet no Call making some "generic" request, without mention game server, try to ask that you can't see your new IP camera from your smartphone or something like that when you're not at home FlighRIG => CPU: RyZen 5900x | RAM: 64GB Corsair 3000Mhz | GPU: nVIDIA RTX 4090 FE | OS Storage: SSD NVMe Samsung 850 Pro 512GB, DCS Storage: SSD NVMe Sabrent 1TB | Device: Multipurpose-UFC, VirPil T-50, TM WARTHOG Throttle, TrackHat, MFD Cougar with screen. I will give it a try and call but i don't have any hope. But before potentially spend money in a new hardware on your side, you must be sure to have a public IP address (not natted network) from your ISP, otherwise it will be useless That's the point. Like Darth Vader said once i guess you will find my lack of knowledge disturbing but.. how do i check if i got a public ip address? "Free SAS" ISP customer service is quite incompetent in that matter.. The problem is that only your ISP can be 100% sure about it, you can try to check your IP address listed when you surf on: https://www.whatismyip.com/ and see if there are some evidence that is not a public ip, comparing to the one that you'll find in the router configuration page, as WAN ip address. Compare the two results as first step Edited June 7, 2024 by Maverick87Shaka FlighRIG => CPU: RyZen 5900x | RAM: 64GB Corsair 3000Mhz | GPU: nVIDIA RTX 4090 FE | OS Storage: SSD NVMe Samsung 850 Pro 512GB, DCS Storage: SSD NVMe Sabrent 1TB | Device: Multipurpose-UFC, VirPil T-50, TM WARTHOG Throttle, TrackHat, MFD Cougar with screen. If i use my 5G router yes, but what if i use my land cable connexion instead when i want to host a DCS game for me and five (max) friends? I imagine that i don't have a public IP address only when i'm plugged into my TP-Link, but if use my "Freebox" router it will be okay right? (lower but reliable?)
