QUCHIMBA Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Hey there guys. I just have 2 quick questions. 1) I can't seem to use backspace to turn off the SHVKAL and switch the HUD back to NAV mode is there something i'm not doing? 2) I can't find any button or key combo anywhere to turn on the NVG goggles? Thank you very much QUACHIMBA
LastRifleRound Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 1.) I've never had it not work. Have you been using your cannon? Try pressing "c" afterwards. Even with the targeting system reset, your HUD will not go to Nav mode if you have your cannon armed. 2.) The key is H, same as HMS. However, you must have the ground crew give you NVG's before you take off in place of your HMS. If you have not done so, H will activate the HMS instead.
QUCHIMBA Posted April 30, 2009 Author Posted April 30, 2009 Thanks man. Just quickly How do i get the ground crew to give me NVG if i use the mission editor? or just ingeneral where would i do that? lastly is it possible to always have the speed displayed regardless of HUD mode? Thanks again
LastRifleRound Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 not sure how to do it in the mission editor, I only know how to do it before takeoff throught the radio menu. I believe the key sequence is "\", "F10", you should see it from there. It is not possible to see speed in all HUD modes as far as I know. When targeting, use the gauge directly to the left of the ADI (Not the back-up one, the one with the sideslip ball) to know your speed.
Safari Ken Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Does anyone know why the speed disappears from the HUD in those modes, by the way? It's not like there's anything replacing it.

I guess Kamov wanted to de-clutter the HUD when employing weapons. You can still read your airspeed off of the Shkval display anyway. Agreed though, odd design choice. nemises Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 (edited) yeah, the night vision will automatically be equiped if the mission start time is outside of daylight hours. To request, do as above, but make sure you either:- - request them BEFORE powering up the engines, and with the door open so the ground crew can hear you (seriously) OR - if you are allready powered up / door closed, select the "grnd" communication channel so they can hear you request it (dial, lower left hand near other radio panels..."gnd" is the farthest right option (clockwise))...Dont forget to change it away from "gnd" before taking off tho, or they will yell at you :) As for speed in the hud, it is actually allways there...look on the right hand side of the hud, you will see a vertical scale from 0 to 500 , with 2 markers on it.. One marker is your current speed , the other marker is your maximum advised speed (the speed at which you will start getting Velocity" warnings for overspeed...this marker will change depending on wind direction, altitude, load etc I belive (not sure how it calculates the "V" speed actually, but im sure some clever soul on here must) It is an analogue rather than digital readout on the HUD, but it is definately there..
