Static objects adding multiple unit numbers instead of copy pasting every single one. About to spend the next couple hours copy/pasting these perfectly together inline when it could just be done by adding X amount of the unit. I know some static objects can do this but this would be great if you could do it to all.

I think every mission maker can agree that this would be insanely appreciated. MAKE IT HAPPEN NOW

What is the request here specifically? If you're trying to build a wall, adding units into a group will still mean that you have spend time moving the units around. I'd argue it would take even longer than using copy and paste unless there is some functionality added to link the statics in a group together, which I wouldn't say no to, but it's a little more complicated to add.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files

Yes adding units wont be perfect at first but if you set up 5, 10, 15, 20, etc in a line for example, and copy paste it now your job just got easier as you just line up that copied unit. Adding 5 groups of 20 units for example is a lot easier and quicker than 100 individual units. Butttt if you have all the time in the world to add single individual static objects for a 2nm straight line, and then do it again for the other side, then power to you.

Personally, what's needed is a way to "Draw" walls in the mission editor. Placing them individually is fine if you're placing them around a command center or something, but the moment you try to place one around an airbase it gets to "KMN" levels of insanity.

That all being said, your plan works too.

It is currently only functional on FARPs. Its a little weird in terms of how the game treats the objects IIRC.

And the farps stack up next to each other as well.

I'm definitely in favour of being able to make groups of static objects and unit templates using static objects, allowing me to move and duplicate groups at will, which would save an absolute boat-load of time (as right now, any configuration has to be remade from scratch).

The static template is great but only for an overall mission template, if you wish to change the configuration it entails moving everything individually, entailing pretty much the same work all over again.

I'm dreaming here, but even better would be the ability to have mixed type templates, so I could have say, ground units and static objects (such as a fixed SAM site) as one group. Another thing is a box/marquee select tool, and the ability to group and ungroup units and static objects at will.

While I tend to agree that this would be helpful, be careful what you wish for: SSE doesn't support StaticObject.getGroup(), and I'm quite sure that a lot of scripts will break if that is added (it was one of the 'safe' ways to be able to differentiate a unit from a static object. So "yeah" to the idea, and "please communicate in advance" to the implementation
