WSO control

A good friend and I just started our F-4 adventure with him in the front seat and me in the back. We have had a small amount of success with a/a and thought we would try some tv camera weapons. we soon run into the problem of me controlling the seeker head from the back seat.

How does the pilot handoff control to the back seater?

My experince is once the pilot pops the lense cap off, the WSO simply takes control

Both crew member can control the weapons.

There is no "handoff". Both are able to slew weapons around and both are able to fly the aircraft.

The WSO can do that too, by pressing his trigger to uncage the Maverick seeker.

Thanks for all the help. I believe it is operator error on my part. I failed to mention that we had a walleye pulled up and that is not slewable but with a maverick, the back seat works as all of you have said. My apology and thanks for the help again.
