It looks like it may be a FFB throttle. That would be a first.

Gotya

I wonder for how many modules this would be a useful gimmick, I know the F-14 has auto-throttle, but what else?

It might also create very good detents. I'm also thinking that it might require only very weak motors, since you always need to be able to override it anyway.

Perhaps they can make something that is not that much more expensive than the VPC VMAX Prime and then I can see the rich people going for this instead. Especially the airliner people, but indeed not so much for DCS, I guess.

I think if we get a VMAX FFB throttle, it'll go for 500+ (inc. taxes)

Virpil isn't the budget brand

You mean besides the obvious Hornet?

And probably the A6 if it gets released

Hmm,.. that doesn't sound like a bad idea: 'electric detents', but is that worth the upcharge?

You misunderstand me. I'm saying that if Winwing prices a FFB throttle within lets say 100 euro of the VPC VMAX Prime, it may be convince people who would otherwise get the most expensive throttle from Virpil.

@Aapje

Ah so.

Well looking at the previous taurus price, but imagine the FFB upcharge, I think Virpil can stay a good chunk under that price if they keep the Format at roughly the dimensions of the VMAX

@Nightdare

Yeah, that one was already hugely expensive. Probably due to the long throw and all the extra material that requires. Unless they change it to lets say a linear mechanism with a belt, a FFB version would probably be at least as expensive.

@Aapje

Not, 'hugely' expensive, yeah there is quite some complexity, but just a good chunk of cost can be found in the shipping alone

It's bigger in volume than 4-5 units of the Orion2+grips+AB detent

Like the Moza, tempting

But I'll wait out if it has full Virpil compatibility

Looks like WINWING just announced more details for their upcoming Cyber Taurus line of what they call, "Electronic Load Control Lineup" devices at FSWeekend. Obviously a unique looking design that they call, "Vertical Parallel Non-Back-Mounted Power structure", which certainly seems innovative but maybe has a questionable form factor design or mounting requirements. Easily something I can live with if it offers the high precision and performance they are claiming. Beyond that initial visual takeaway, I am most interested in the different models in this lineup and what they each bring (pros/cons) to the equation. From what I gathered there are two tiers, Base and Cyber Taurus (D) with the Cyber Taurus (D) having two versions.

Quick YT video someone took at their FSWeekend booth of the Cyber Taurus units.

Base (1 version)

  • Key Feature: Includes a reducer mechanism
  • Torque rating: 20NM+ (mentioned as high as 24NM in their testing/R&D lab)
  • Price $414.95

Cyber Taurus (D) "Hardcore" (2 versions)

  1. R Version - with Reducer Mechanism
    • Key Feature: Includes a reducer mechanism
    • Torque rating: 60NM+
    • Price $699.95

  2. D Version - Rotor Direct-drive High-torque
    • Key Feature: Direct drive, no reducers, no gears, no belts
      • Talked about "top-tier feedback efficiency" which I take to mean quicker responsiveness, less slop / greater precision.
    • Torque rating: 16NM+
    • Price $699.95

image.png

I also was very excited to see them introduce the Cyber Taurus Electronic Load Control Rudder Pedals!

  • Key Feature: High-precision, powerful, accurate
  • Torque rating: 170NM+
  • Price $799.95

image.png

They even shared some other great products coming, including a Boeing-style (traditional) yoke and more Airbus gear (Thrust Lever quadrant, pedestal controls)! A lot going on over there but I am really interested in these FFB devices and what the direct drive vs the reducer versions might be like. Do folks want the raw power or the precision?null

60Nm?

We're gonna be seeing people come with posts about cracked grips

Edit: I do love that extended roll axis design, though a little less applicable to helicopters
