MSMStannyl Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 (edited) Hey @Badger633, one minor thing I noticed in Mission 9. The briefing states for me to drop 6 high drag MK's on the runway. However, once the plane spawns, it's only loaded with 4 of them. I haven't run through the mission yet so not sure if it's a typo in the briefing, and you only need to drop 4, or if it's a load out issue and I should manually add 2 more. The outer 2 pylons have AIM-120s. Just wanted to verify. TIA Added snips (sorry they're out of VR) Edited June 24, 2024 by MSMStannyl
rob10 Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 Haven't got that far yet, but from a M09 question in the forum bugs section for this campaign above, it references 4 bombs in the air at once for the trigger, so I think that's a typo in the briefing.
Badger633 Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 Hi @MSMStannyl @rob10 Already been corrected and will be in next up. In the beginning 6 was correct but dropped to 4 to include a central bag. Just missed update in brief. The new update also changes some AI as sometimes one had gethomeitis! 1 F/A-18C Campaigns : The Serpent’s Head / The Serpent’s Head 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5.0Ghz / Gigabyte 2080ti water force extreme / 32 Gb RAM Corsair Dominator Platinum 3600 / 2Tb Samsung 970 Evoplus NVMe M.2 / Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas / Thrustmaster Pedals / Valve Index.

I finished this one yesterday, but just another small bug @Badger633 when i went to grab fuel, i heard ford tell matrix to plug port side, but he stayed on my wing, and when i tried plugging starboard it wouldnt connect, as soon as i switched to port side, it connected. I will say, i didnt contact tanker till 10miles, NOT when i was initially told to switch at 30 or so miles, not sure if that effected it? i was about to make a seperate post, but didnt seem worth it, matrix didnt run out of fuel, and i was able to complete mission ok, just worth a mention
Badger633 Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Hey @CH4Pz That’s how it should be. Not at my rig for a few weeks but should be explained in brief in the game if you look. If you decide to refuel there is also a text message that comes up for at least a minute explaining there is a DCS bug and so Matrix will just stay in formation and you are to refuel on port side. This a temp fix as due to the DCS refuel bug instead of refueling as scripted Matrix was diving to low level and orbiting or going AWOL breaking the mission, a real pain as worked until recently. The original voices have been left in as it will be switched back when bug fixed by DCS 1 F/A-18C Campaigns : The Serpent’s Head / The Serpent’s Head 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5.0Ghz / Gigabyte 2080ti water force extreme / 32 Gb RAM Corsair Dominator Platinum 3600 / 2Tb Samsung 970 Evoplus NVMe M.2 / Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas / Thrustmaster Pedals / Valve Index.

Razor18 Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 (edited) Hay Badger, planted 4 RET'D bombs in the runway, still fails me in Mission 9 on the climbout off the TGT. MODE was CCIP, MFUZE was NOSE, DRAG was RET, streched them along the RWY manually. TacView attached. Tacview-20240823-160053-DCS-SYRIA M9 MILK RUN.zip.acmi Oh, shoot... Just occured to me, when checked at start up on ARM screen, ARM DELAY was 2 seconds but I dropped from around 300 feet, bomb fall time could have been around 1.5 seconds... Dang... Edited August 23, 2024 by Razor18
Badger633 Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 @Razor18 Thanks for the track. The reason you got the fail is that the trigger is looking for 4 bombs in the air within the zone. Unfortunately it's the only way we can check you have got all 4 bombs within the zone. You were down at 1,400 feet and because you manually released the bombs the first hit before you released the last. If you release at the 2000 feet, called in the mission, and automated the bomb drop you will get all four in the air in the runway zone which will not then fail. It's the only way I can check the release accuracy. Will research see if there is another option or maybe only check position of first bomb. Good accurate drop though F/A-18C Campaigns : The Serpent’s Head / The Serpent’s Head 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5.0Ghz / Gigabyte 2080ti water force extreme / 32 Gb RAM Corsair Dominator Platinum 3600 / 2Tb Samsung 970 Evoplus NVMe M.2 / Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas / Thrustmaster Pedals / Valve Index.
Razor18 Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 (edited) I guess you mean 1400 barometric, right? Because I was at 300 feet AGL. So you mean I have to drop AUTO, strictly from 2000 feet? Should I use some intervall to success, or any more requirement? Edited August 23, 2024 by Razor18
Badger633 Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 @Razor18 Yes barometric, Try to get up to 2000 baro, set bombs to drop every 500 feet , should work fine. I am putting feelers out to see if there is clever script to sense the bomb explosion locations otherwise might just check first bomb release location not ideal but you wouldn't have had a problem then. Thanks for the heads up. Badger633 Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 @Razor18 I've come up with a cunning solution how to check the bombs which will not fail if flown as you did. Will be in next update. Razor18 Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 (edited) Tried to re-run it. Now problem was, if selected AUTO, and was heading straight towards the TGT diamond, the AUTO ASL was on the right edge of the HUD, so totally off. If I switched to CCIP, then the bomb fall line was not vertical, the cross "pointed" about 30 degree angle to the left of the HUD bottom (towards 7 o'clock from the center). Probably DCS bug, I think I have read about it sometimes earlier. I still could CCIP them all on the runway, but with AUTO it would have been totally impossible. Edited August 23, 2024 by Razor18
Badger633 Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Sorry @Razor18 i have confused things by using the word Auto. What i meant was to use CCIP but set up the bombs so they drop one after each other automatically at 500 feet intervals with one press and hold. Yes the drop line is distorted probably the wind component. You have to get in a position where your impact cross is going up the runway even though its off to your side. This is flying Kenny running through the mission. Razor18 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 Oh yeah, when you realize you have rain on your canopy inside a hardened shelter... (I now it's ED...) Just a minor side question: I usually take off from carrier, so I didn't remember when finishing GRD alignment and you switch to IFA, on the HSI the message "IFA RDR" appears with a countdown. I did not find too much info about it in either guide, what is it...
Badger633 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 @Razor18 Didn't you realise that ED has employed the new 'Green' porous bunkers. The 'IFA RDR' warning on the HSI is to tell you the GPS is not available for the 'In Flight Alignment' system you have switched to. This is because you are in the bunker and assume the satellites cannot see you. Move outside the bunker and message goes, just tried it. Razor18 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 Yeah, thanks, I was looking it up everywhere, also in the document "we don't say the name of", and it also said, after aligment says "OK" and switching to IFA, if there is no GPS data when switching, HSI goes to IFA RDR. Thanks for coming back though... 1
Z0mb13 Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 (edited) I've choosed to not refuel after having followed the best performances profile and having more than 7k left. When the AA phase begin, my wingman stay flying in formation instead of attacking. Spaming radio menu "flight, engage bandits" doesn't help. At one point, the wingman will start to evade AA missiles, and then eventually SA ones, before returning into formation if able. Obviously engaging alone require a better missiles management, than when engaging in duo. Edited August 28, 2024 by Z0mb13
Badger633 Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 (edited) Hi @Z0mb13 Could you send me the track or tacview file please so i can check it out. Your wing has been scripted to attack some of the migs but not all. The reason for this is that otherwise all you would have to do is sit back and let him kill all the migs for you. I am not at the computer this week but there is normally a verbal indication from Matrix or Ford which one your wing is going for. I think he will take out the one on its own and your left with the other two. If you take out his aircraft he will no longer engage. What AI level did you select as this has a big implication on the Migs activities. You cannot use the regular DCS menu to get him to attack as he is not a true wing man but an independent AI scripted to act as a wing. This normally the case in most campaigns to give the designer more control. A track or Tacview file will allow me to check things out in case there is a new bug. Thanks EDIT: Just checked the fly through by Flying Kenny posted in this subject a few messages above this. Matrix says he is going to take out the one on the right and Ford says he will take out the two on the left. Don’t take out the one on the right. Check it out above. Razor18 Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 Not to hijack the topic from Z0mb13, but in my latest attempt I also had some weird behaviour by Matrix. See TacView file attached. Tacview-20240828-161622-DCS-SYRIA M11 ZERO HELO.zip.acmi
Badger633 Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 Thanks @Razor18 will take a look later in the week. AI is a real pain at the moment lots of strange things that are not noted in update lists. Z0mb13 Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 (edited) It is true that on the first time I did target all migs at once. I've retried waiting to the very last moment for the purpose, u'll see on the track. I tested on ace, on veteran (track), and I got it on the 3rd try when I assumed I had just to do a 1v3 strategy. Btw, do not laugh too much at the amount of missile going fully dumb when seeing like 2chaffs or 4flares (all types included), nor when the wingman drop counter measures when not targeted Tacview-20240829-144622-DCS-SYRIA M9 MILK RUN.zip.acmi Edited August 29, 2024 by Z0mb13

Badger633 Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 HI @Z0mb13 @Razor18 Looked at the tracks, thanks both. @Z0mb13 your right Matrix was refusing to engage, got to be recent DCS updates. Have finally managed to fix it and get him to reliably attack. Will be in next update. @Razor18 Looking at your track it looks like you did not keep to a tight orbit waiting for the SAMs to clear as instructed and started to approach the target. This meant Matrix was to close to get his weapons away and had to come back round which then destroyed the expected flight patterns. Can you try it again but this time keep to the holding orbit until instructed. You might want to wait for the update now I have fixed the issue above raised by Z0mbi13. Razor18 Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 OK, what is the requirement of a "tight orbit"? A radius of...?
Badger633 Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 @Razor18 At least 45 degrees of bank and keep within 3 miles of WP. This is flying Kenny with Mission 11.
