Definitely worth a try with the 7 day free demo. I have used FSrealistic in the past and enjoy the highly customized tweeking you can do for each module.

I read on their forums that their other versions have additional sounds, so hopefully those will be added to dcs. Someone mentioned Huey Blade slap sounds amazing in DCS. Seeing I really only fly the helicopters this would be amazing. As of now I use the Echo 19 sound and the huey sounds great. Extra blade slap on other helicopters is always great. Love love love blade slap.

Testing DCRealistic now.

So far I have noticed Frametime Spikes and Micro Stutter when DCRealistic is running. I have done all the troubleshooting that I could and have left some information for rKApps on their Forum.

There are some nice sounds that I thoroughly missed so far in DCS. Mainly touchdown tire screeching.

Other sounds need to be toned down a lot or deactivated from the default. But so far it seems promising overall. Let‘s keep an eye on the performance impacts.

Okay, one big flaw I found so far is, that the volume of the effects isn’t affected by the game volume settings. That‘s a problem when you need to switch between headset and speakers and single player and multiplayer and so on. Maybe that is an individual problem to me, but I change the master volume quite often.

Would be nice, if that would be linked to DCRealistic.

It happens to VR too. Looks like it outputs the sound to somewhere else other than the VR headset, need to sort this out.

You can (must) set the output source in the settings. Problem is that it doesn't switch automatically (same as DCS sometimes).

Thanks. I am told they are working on the output device selection thing, just not in the latest public beta.

Sorry, I thought I had to choose the output already. Maybe I confused that with the simhaptic app. I had both running at the same time.

I am told I have to select whatever sound source I am using while flying, in my case it would be Oculus Headset. After I set in in Windows (not DCS!!!), then it works and I would say, it is dam noisy by default and some subtle sound and camera effect is quite effective. I am flying the latest beta which can be found on the forum.

I Fly, Therefore I Am.

Yeah, I have my sound settings set up through windows. Have to switch from speakers to vr when playing vs not playing however I keep my ingame settings to vr headset and I touch nothing else.

Also the default volume on every single effect needs to be lowered to your liking as I show in my video, many settings are at a volume of 1 and many are 8 to 14. Master volume steady at default.

Some effects are still not working for some helos. That's what I fly and own so that what I know.

It looks like RKApps has been taking feedback and making immediate changes and updates so everything that needs work seems very promising at this point. If it was a free app I'd expect it to be "cool and overtime it will improve" but because it's paid addon the efforts seen are expected and I'm glad that they are actively engaged with the feedback.

The DCRealistic and SimHaptic Programs from rKApps is certainly worth a free look while some of us wait for the next big DCS Patch.

Cheers, v1.0.3 is now latest 🍺

Hey,

I'd really wish you could couple the main audio gain to the DCS main volume setting. I don't know if ED exports the necessary information, though.

We did try to find a way to do it and we couldn't, that was a few months ago, we will be looking into it again. Thanks.

Volume is a tough one because it's going to be so different per rig etc...I have most of the sounds turned way down.  It is a nice addition to the simpit along with SimHaptic no doubt.  Would love to see a future update that allows customizing of sounds so the community can give us module specific profiles etc!

Yeah, you still need to tweak the relative gain between different effects and DCS to your individual taste.
my work around for now is, once I adjusted everything I try to remember to only use the main windows volume only instead of the ingame audio-sliders.

It's tough though, because there are several different occasions (playing alone with or without headphones, playing with somebody on discord, being inside the cockpit or in F2 etc) where I used to just adjust the main volume inside DCS.

It's no deal breaker of course. It would just improve creature comfort.
