coldcrew Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 if you press G, while on the tarmac it retracts the gear and falls on the ground. Does the real su25 do that? The wheel brakes are weak! This little bird requires a runway designed for a bomber to be able to stop. same real 25 question

This little bird requires a runway designed for a bomber to be able to stop. same real 25 question I remember raising the question in 1.02 and the comments said that yes, braking was poor, but it had been researched in detail and reflected RL. It does seem odd that you can retract the gear on the ground! James

Alfa Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 if you press G, while on the tarmac it retracts the gear and falls on the ground. Does the real su25 do that? Yes it does - I have actually heard of a couple of instances(with other types of jets), where the pilot accidently raised the gear while on the ground....crash! The wheel brakes are weak! This little bird requires a runway designed for a bomber to be able to stop. same real 25 question Yes again - the Su-25 does have relatively weak brakes, so as Viper mentioned, you need to use the brake chute to slow down after landing . SUBS17 Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 The real question on my mind is, doesn't the Su25 have stops to prevent accidental grounding of the aircraft. On most fighters the gear won't retract unless the weight is taken off the wheels. Another question regarding the Su25- When you're on Intial point and going in to drop some bombs the original lockon training was to throttle back to 60%(I think) and deploy brakes. But in v1.1 the aircraft shakes when ever you use the brakes! To a point where accuracy is not possible. Whats the real life technique? Any Frog drivers here? cheers Subs [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
ED Team Olgerd Posted March 20, 2005 ED Team Posted March 20, 2005 The real question on my mind is, doesn't the Su25 have stops to prevent accidental grounding of the aircraft. On most fighters the gear won't retract unless the weight is taken off the wheels. Most of modern russian jets (except of MiG-29UB 9-51) have not WOW gear retract limiters. It was designed in this way intentionally. The reason is that it is much more dangerous to get a situation when the gears will start retracting during takeoff due to wrong gear lever position after you plane will get some lift. Another question regarding the Su25- When you're on Intial point and going in to drop some bombs the original lockon training was to throttle back to 60%(I think) and deploy brakes. Just start your dive on the target at lower speeds. Or retract brakes right before starting of aiming. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] К чему стадам дары свободы? Их должно резать или стричь. SUBS17 Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 Thanks for the reply Olgred, my bombings now much better. Its interesting to see the differences between Russian and US designs on flight sims. On falcon 4 I can throw the gear switch and nothing will happen until the nose raises off the ground. I can see why this would be a problem as if I were carrying a heavy load and didn't quite have enough speed the gear would retract anyway causing alot more damage. The funny thing is I never new you could throw the switch early on Falcon until recently and pilots never throw the switch early as the aircrafts slats and flaps retract once the gear is up. cheers Subs [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
